  1. >A bold show of defiance that church leaders are calling an act of faith is coming to life on the steps of a Methodist church in Dallas.

    >In response to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s order removing a Pride crosswalk in front of the Oak Lawn United Methodist Church in the city, church leaders are painting the building’s broad steps in bright rainbow colors.

    >“It’s important because silence is not neutral — silence in the face of harm always sides with the oppressor,” Senior Pastor Rachel Griffin-Allison said [in a statement](https://www.news10.com/business/press-releases/ein-presswire/860176304/oak-lawn-methodist-church-paints-steps-rainbow-in-response-to-state-directive-removing-queer-art-from-neighborhood/) on Tuesday.

    >“Painting our steps in the colors of the rainbow is a visible witness to the gospel we preach: that every person is created in the image of God and worthy of safety, dignity, and belonging.”

    >Church leadership hopes the rainbow steps will serve as both a statement of solidarity and a sanctuary of hope for the LGBTQ+ community and allies across Dallas, they said.

    >“The rainbow is a reminder that God keeps showing up — especially for those the world tries to silence.”

Props to this church. I’m sure the Christian nationalists in Texas like Abbott will try to attack this church with a burning cross, since they share more in common with the Klan than with Jesus.

  2. The rainbow is a reminder that he mass murdered everyone except Noah and his family and promised to never do it again *by drowning us*. Probably because he was frustrated about not being able to drown the fish.

All other methods of extermination are still on the table.

Personally, it makes total sense to me that that deity’s followers so often fly into a homicidal rage every time they see a rainbow. It’s likely the most godly thing many of them ever do.

The rainbow is a Christian symbol from the Bible. How dare the GOP try to trample that!

Two sides can play the pretend outrage game

The rainbow is a reminder that Thor still hasn’t been allowed to cross the bridge because he’ll break it.

    You go Oak Lawn!

Super curious why we are tearing up roads anyway…not supporting it but could they not just paint over them?

Nah a made up story we’ve told ourselves for thousands of years ain’t going to help anyone, always just makes things worse.

  7. My wife and I are in Texas and have been looking for a new church. Shame we don’t live in Dallas.

The govt can have a nice argument against the rainbow being the symbol of relief after the flood.
