    Snippet:

    * Former President [Joe Biden](https://www.huffpost.com/news/topic/joe-biden) called these “dark days” as he urged Americans to stay optimistic and not to check out in response to what he says are attacks on free speech and tests on the limits of executive power by President [Donald Trump](https://www.huffpost.com/news/topic/donald-trump).
    * “Since its founding, America served as a beacon for the most powerful idea ever in government in the history of the world,” Biden said. “The idea is stronger than any army. We’re more powerful than any dictator.”
    * Biden, 82, speaking publicly for the first time since completing a round of radiation therapy for an [aggressive form of prostate cancer](https://apnews.com/article/biden-cancer-prostate-be18c98abe341cd91277e1d3b75d5cd5), addressed an audience in Boston on Sunday night after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.
    * He said America depends on a presidency with limited power, a functioning Congress and an autonomous judiciary. With the federal government facing its second-longest shutdown on record, Trump has used the funding lapse [as way to exercise new command over the government.](https://apnews.com/article/government-shutdown-trump-congress-presidential-power-157d0d2d6d00d273dca722232ff252ad)
    * “Friends, I can’t sugar coat any of this. These are dark days” Biden said before predicting the country would “find our true compass again” and “emerge as we always have — stronger, wiser and more resilient, more just, so long as we keep the faith.”
    * Biden also shouted out elected Republican officials who vote or openly go against the Trump administration.
    * “**America is not a fairy tale,” he said. “For 250 years, it’s been a constant push and pull, an existential struggle between peril and possibility.”**

it’s not just ‘dark days,’ dude. It’s like we’re stuck in a freakin’ eclipse here.

  3. We elected you to stop the Russian Asset/Racist Gameshow Host and his cabal of traitors who keep kicking us down. You failed to do so. Sit down.

  4. Apropo from the president whose entire term consisted of throwing up his hands and saying “somebody should do something about this”

  5. Is this the same Joe Biden that said if he loses the election “oh well, as long as I did my best” before dropping out? And the same Joe Biden that got broad immunity and did nothing with it? If it is, then that guy can shut the hell up and fade away into anal of history.

  6. Joe Biden can sit the fuck down and shut up. There are very few people who are more responsible for us getting to this point than Joe Biden. And zero on the left.

  7. Our best weapons, checks and balances within the branches, the free press and the Supreme Court have all abandoned us. Nearly every election is contested and all sides assume the other is cheating with gerrymandering and election fraud. The wealthy are gorging themselves to complete distraction when not actively harming us. What exactly is Joe asking us to do here because the general vibe on the ground is negative to say the least.

Do you know what would have been nice? If you had sat the fuck down when it was clearly time to do so rather than force feeding the electorate a candidate they had rejected previously.

What did anyone one think was going to happen on January 6th 2021. He had 4 years to do everything in his power to try and put in place a action plan surely there is ‘authoritarian dictatorship ‘ action plan? Don’t even have to be started while in power? The day trumps Presidency looked liked a sh*tshow and clearly just evil actions? 2016! Like don’t goverments do disaster planning for every eventuality? Like isn’t there a name of this?
I feel like demacrates are acting likes it’s new information or surprising. What was the collective action since trump started completely crushing norms like lying and ignoring law. If biden belived he would be facist dictator, his own Republican top generals called it out! It really Started in 2016 with cambridge analytica.  They know Republicans are being lied to by their media. He seem to act like this in 2016. Why didn’t enough people then seem to want to do anything they were more concerned about their book deals after they left? Like where is integrity of anyone who didn’t want to democracy to be dismantled? Its like Obama and his speech. It wasn’t a shock! Where was an counting blantent lying to their voter. I get that there is general lies of keeping staus quo but why has fox been allowed to effectively indoctrinate their viewers. Its like this is way to late. He should be not putting it on american public! They didn’t have to be able to do this.  More people could have stopped things. I appreciate investigated needed time to happen but active measures the documentary that lays out that trump is a russia asset has literally hillary Clinton on it and intelligence agents in it. This should be public knowledge! This should have been put on all screens and blasted when it was made. Not made in documentary ! Trump was a threat before be even become a Republican!

  10. And Joe I hope that you are give plenty of strong words from friends and family about your mistake with nominating merrick garland for AG. You shoulder a huge portion of the blame for why we are here. A lot of this is your fault my man.

  11. Biden kept up the awesome liberal tradition of handing power to Republicans on a silver platter because of hubris. Good job, Joe. Stand up! Yeah.

  12. If only your administration had done more to protect America from the threat of fascism that YOU recognized. But you used it as a fundraising opportunity instead.

The Supreme Court even gave you an “I win” button. But you had to play nice with fascists, and now we’re fucked.

how many times do I need to “get back up” before the opposing party actually punishes Trump and his accomplices for the zillion felonies committed in broad daylight? are we going to see any 2028 candidates publicly talking about their plans to do so? or are we going to continue pretending that everything is totally going to go back to normal if we continue to allow sociopaths to do whatever they want indefinitely?

  14. In 2022 the US Senate provided Biden a report on how to combat white supremacy and domestic terrorism on social media. I’m unaware of any actions that the Biden Admin took thereafter to implement any of the recommendations, but I’m happy to be proven wrong. If not, I consider it a significant indictment against the former president.

everyone is looking real hard for the person that could have done literally anything to stop this

  16. “You know folks, it just dawned on me that the other guy isn’t a straight shooter. Imagine that! Did I ever tell you about Corn Pop, or something or other.. more than a transitional president?”

“What can the Democrats do? They’re not in power,” you ask? They could at least choose to come together and present to the people a cohesive vision forward, and they can do this any number of direct ways that don’t require the permission of Republicans or the wealthy, like social media, wikis, 30 minute Zoom town halls, information hubs, etc. But really they won’t even do these. This whole schizophrenic comedy mixed with grandstanding and dismissal routine isn’t cutting it, for it’s just more fog. They nearly all behaving, still even after Chuck Schumer’s empty speech about there being a constitutional crisis, as if it’s business as usual.

Who cares about Cory Booker’s super long speech? Can anyone even recall its highlights? Did it inspire or energize anyone except media ratings? Did it even matter at all? I point this out in particular because it seems a good representative portrait of the Democrats’ effectiveness since 2008.

  18. Nobody wants to hear from you anymore. You’re simply saying what we all know, but you’re a huge part of the reason that we’re in this mess now. Thanks for your service, but kindly leave. I’m sorry, but I just don’t have the patience for you right now. Every other living president should be more outspoken about what is going on right now, but it seems that Obama may be the only other one willing to say anything.

  19. The guy who pushed everyone out so he could ‘save us’ the first time, then did nothing but nominate people who did nothing to stop this. Then ran again knowing he had what he has now, without a primary, gave us this. He completely bungled it all.

You didn’t do anything to prevent these Dark Days, go sit down you disappointment of a person.

  21. CFO_of_Super_Antifa on

The supreme court handed Biden full immunity to do whatever he wanted. He had the power to stop this and didn’t.

  22. Oh Joe. Unfortunately you will be remembered for being given the power to prevent this (by the supreme court) and then doing nothing but saying its not your character preference. Yes these are dark times. And we need dark leaders to confront them. Unfortunately the best we have is Newsom who is basically a twitter troll.

  23. TwistedSisters131313 on

Biden and Garland refusing to hold Trump accountable for the crimes and insurrection during his first term are the reason we are here right now. 🖕🖕🖕

  24. Dark days that you kinda left the door open for old man. The current incarnation of the democrat party is such an embarrassment.

I have zero interest – none – in hearing anything that the Clintons Bidens Pelosis or Harris folks have to say about anything whatsoever.

Their abysmal leadership eroded the confidence in American institutions so badly that it paved the way to a fascist totalitarian kleptocrat cult leader.

I can not say this any more clearly:

    WE NEED NEW LEADERSHIP

  26. I don’t understand people blatantly defending and fawning over Biden. The only people who do are party loyalists that do not understand their complicity in this collapsing system. There is no way he was the best choice to beat Trump, and this is coming from someone who voted for him in 2020. We’ve held our noses and still arrived at this point. It is from the absolute selfishness, arrogance, and impudence of people like Biden that has caused fascism to become so powerful in America.

The democratic party was never seriously interested in fixing the problem as long as their leaders and donors got to join the money parade. They feel like they can kick all the problems down the road because they came from a place of privilege.

The people have suffered long enough for the interests of capital. It is time for people over profit, not the other way around.
