My partner and I visited Toronto a few weeks ago. I cannot stress just how much it was like slipping out of the dark timeline. There’s a place in this world that is nearly identical to your home in America *where none of this shit ever happened* and you can see it in the faces of nearly every single person you meet the minute you step off the plane. It’s a place full of people who haven’t had the dreams beat out of them by 24/7 fear.
We could have had that. For ourselves. It blows my fucking mind.
I wish more Americans would take a vacation like that. People need to know. I’d move there in a heartbeat but the immigration door is rightfully closed to us. The answer is to fix our shit though I have no idea how. At this point I fear it’s a generations long struggle that we may never win

I’ve spent a shit ton of time in Canada and I can honestly say that I love that country and our Canadian brothers and sisters. It’s a wonderful place filled with wonderful people and I hope they don’t give up on us. There are plenty of people here who are horrified by what is happening in our country. Please be patient with us as I know that we will find our way again someday.
