The future of the democratic party has always been New Dealism. It was a mistake the party ever moved away from New Deal policies. The party has tried everything to avoid becoming the party of the working class, and that active choice delivered us fascism. I hope the party wises up and picks America over their donors, because if they don’t then may god save us all.

That’s likely a good thing.
One of the parties needs to change for the better of the nation.
Dems and the GOP are both stagnant currently and get absolutely nothing done.

It’s time, looks like facing full fledged in your face fascism might have done the trick.

He’s popular because capitalism is not working for us mere mortals anymore. When Amazon can lay off thousands of people and Wall St. cheers and the DOW makes records but us mere mortals are struggling then guys like him look very very good.
Another reason why billionaires ruin everything

Hey folks, The Guardian is hypocritical. They threw Jeremy Corbin under the bus, and support Starmer, who calls himself Labour but is Tory-lite.

Capitalism isn’t working for the vast majority of people in this country. There are many responses to capitalism, and among them democratic socialism, social democracy, is a shining example of a system that could possibly work for most interests. It allows capitalism to be a thing, but it also protects humans from capitalism’s desire to roll over anything in its path to expand. Given the horror show of reactionary responses to capitalism, I’ll take Mamdani’s vision over what the status quo politicians are peddling.

I think America is too overtaken by Christian Fundamentalists to be swayed by a man of Muslim faith. He doesn’t have a bad platform but even the Democrat Party has a LOT of what amounts to Blue Republicans. I would wager the party choosing a Muslim is all it would take for them vote Red. New York can get away with it because it’s a unique place that doesn’t represent the rest of America (unfortunately)

He’s addressing the issues that made Trump win (and the cheating). Trump lied about the solutions. I have wondered why the democrats didn’t jump on the voter’s financial concerns.

Fine by me. The Dems need to try something, ANYTHING different. Give him a shot. Let’s see what sticks.
Nothing else seems to be working to defend against the autocracy that is currently in place.
