These DHS people under Trump are ghouls. They need to be sent to the Hague, what else can I say about these ongoing atrocities?

This should terrify everyone. ICE has becomed empowered to ignore direct court orders and it will only get worse.

Of course not. Deporting US citizens is *never* a mistake for ICE these days.

Do you have a problem with a troublesome employee, neighbour or husband? Well just pay the price and hand it to ICE. (We accept all major CC).

I wonder how many articles and stories there will be in the future about citizens getting detained or even ”accidentally” deported.

Whether or not his claim to US citizenship is true, a judge had ruled he could not be deported while he challenged his arrest and detention.
And they did it *anyway*.
Cue stern warning and finger-wagging, because that has worked well and solved the problem all the *other* times it has happened…

So ICE is now deporting US citizen? This is weird

Look, The Independent, I know organizational names are sometimes plural in British English, but if you use a ‘don’t in that title, the ‘says’ should be ‘say’ to match, and if you really want ‘says’, you’ll need a ‘doesn’t’. You haven’t tried to cut costs by laying off copy-editors have you? Or used an LLM?

ICE can’t make decisions like these. It requires a judge.

In ICEs defense, the judge told them “its not right to deport him” but they heard “its not white deport him”
Easy mistake that could happen to any racist facist

Trump wants the ability to strip citizenship from people born in the USA.

This is why trump wants to strip American citizens of birthright citizenship so he can make people disappear he doesn’t like because they are not loyal enough to him or rich enough to give him millions

Immigrants are being deported, so citizens will be sent to exile or where?

This looks like a very desperate attempt to find someone, anyone they can label a “violent criminal illegal alien.”
Anything goes now. Not only have they illegally detained more than 170 U S Citizens, but now they are deporting them too.

As a semi-serious question, if you’re a US citizen and ICE deports you, do you still have to pay federal taxes?

I really want the pendulum to swing. I’d love to see all the sitting conservative justices, and the whole of republicans leadership sitting in brutal foreign prisons while they think hard about the crimes they’ve committed against the American people.

We’re already well into an “out of sight out of mind” situation.
They aren’t just deporting but are putting them in offshore prisons that are outside of the view of any journalists. We are going to find out that they are death camps or something close enough to it.

I assume the first thing to try would be to produce/request a passport and re-enter the country.

Every govt agency and dept had a vibe whenever I dealt with their employees.
DHS consistently gave “We would turn Anne Frank in” vibes.
Except the Coast Guard. Those guys were typically cool.

Why are we asking the DHS? This doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction. Ignore them.

Here’s the key quote:
> The restraining order blocking ICE from deporting him was not served to the agency until after he was already on a plane for Laos
They expedited his removal once they knew they couldn’t hold him in order to circumvent the law. Until judges take the kid gloves off, expect nothing to change.
