I’d like to see the GOP play the blame game with a bunch of tired/frustrated/angry holiday travelers.

I doubt any of them want to see Noem’s face up on a screen in the airport.

  2. It must suck being a federal employee in the US. I would probably not show up to work if it didn’t mean I would likely face consequences after the shutdown ends.

After that plane crash in DC how can the US mistreat their ATCs like this?

  3. Better than me because if I see the WH remodeling bathrooms with imported marble and a ballroom being built while I’m working without a paycheck and Mike Johnson saying I’m not entitled to back pay, duces.

  4. EmployerDry6368 on

The Reich wants them to quit or go on strike so they can be fired, the end goal is privatized ATC.

    Been the plan for decades.

No pay, no work. Just accept the fact that the federal government is a bankrupt employer and your pension benefits are gone.

I actually hate seeing title like that. Yeah they are working without paid, but why they are so special?

Like there are also tons of other federal employees as well at the same spot, but no one cares.

  7. Who in the hell thought designing a governmental system that could even experience a shutdown was a good idea? Take a note from every other system in the world and fix this issue!

  8. You have one of the most stressful jobs in the world, not getting paid to do it is beyond crazy. I don’t blame the ones calling in sick, but as a regular flyer I must say I’m not as concerned about delays but my safety. You guys need to not only get paid but a substantial pay raise as far as I’m concerned-

  9. Join government work for stability they say. Lower pay, but better healthcare and more stability than the private sector.

That’s the real coming crisis over the next 20-40 years. If the government isn’t considered a reliable employer, it’ll start costing taxpayers more. Both in literal pay and more importantly loss of quality candidates. This guy has seen it three times. His best bet is to ride it out and retire, but do you think he’ll recommend that job to the next generation?

  10. Why bruv? Stop propping up this shit!

You lot need a mass sick day.

    Call it ‘Sick of Winning’.

If I was an ATC I’d just get a job in a country that doesn’t play stupid games like this and leave.

Air traffic control union needs to go on strike/no show/blue flu nationally and demand Trump resign. Maybe do this for the thanksgiving rush days.

Grind America to a halt. Disruption to society brings anger and quick change.

I haven’t been on an airplane since the nineties, is where I’m at. But I’m living under a landing path and as to plane crashes I’m definitely NIMBY, not in my backyard. If flying has gotten stupidly dangerous, as appears to be so, shut ‘er down. Business folk might complain but Congress has no need to be flying, on permanent vacation they are.

  14. Convince everybody not being paid to stop showing up, fuck this shut down, make the public mad about it.

  15. All I can say is that anyone working without pay for some entity that is taking in $ is not actually that bright. Also maybe this person should just deny any craft Landing or takeoff privileges due to Safety concerns at this moment.

  16. “Essential Worker” is a misnomer.

“Worker” means getting paid for the services performed.

“Working” without being paid makes you either a volunteer or a slave.

The government is still collecting taxes so their is no excuse not to pay their workers.

  17. “Donald Trump’s first administration presided over the longest US federal shutdown Dec 22, 2018 – Jan 25, 2019, 35 days it began during a Republican-majority Senate and House (the House switched from Republican to Democratic majority on Jan 3, 2019).

The current shutdown, beginning Oct 1, 2025 is poised to set a new record reaching 36 days on Wednesday Nov 5, 2025. If this occurs it will again be under Trumps presidency with a Republican-controlled Congress in both the Senate and House.”

I <3 what this guy says. Let me paraphrase the best of it

“My plea is simple: Sit down and negotiate. Find a middle ground. Stop pointing fingers. Stop turning your backs on one another, and on the rest of us…”

“Think about all the federal workers who show up every day to keep this country safe and functioning. Think about the air traffic controllers who ensure that planes land safely while wondering how to pay their rent. Think about the parents who can’t afford child care, or the families depending on SNAP benefits who can no longer put food on the table.”

    “Open the government.”

  19. If there’s any chance you could bring the rest of the grapes, rinsed off that would be nice 🙂

  20. OooSheGotFreckles on

Organize with your fellow air traffic controllers, and everyone call in sick. Can’t think of a better time for a general strike than while you’re not getting paid.

If the ATC’s refused to work without pay, even the rich folks would be affected.

    Their pay would materialize instantaneously.
