  1. It’d be nice for the rest of the national Dem leadership to shape up and pay the fuck attention.

Most of our political leaders (on both sides) were born in 1946/47. It’s time to finally transfer power to the younger generations.

  3. If I was a New Yorker I’d give him a shot. See what he can do. See how his “affordability” strategy works out in real life.

But I’d be waiting on those results before I get all excited and think “national leader”.

I been saying for over 50 years, want to save democracy, yer going to need a whole heap of Democratic Socialism otherwise, Fascist America, pretty much where we are today.

  5. National leader? NY City doesn’t qualify as “national”. He will win then face obstruction like everyone else does.

  6. It was funny when I was having a conversation with a friend of mine recently who used to be smack dab in the middle before we had some really good conversations and he moved left over the first few years of our friendship. He considers himself more of a moderate democrat than a moderate now. As we got to talking about Mamdani being “too far left,” I tested his beliefs and he eventually went on this long thing about his perfect world being a completely moneyless society… which is the most he realized he’s a communist.

  7. We can see what happens, assuming he gets elected. But, it’s undeniable that he’s running an all-time great campaign here in NYC. That dude is everywhere at all hours of the day, speaking to so many New Yorkers in different neighborhoods. And he and his team actually understand how to use social media without being completely cringe.

  8. He’s one of the few people the working class can put a face to who is standing up to the billionaire takeover and pillaging of the country.

  9. When both establishment Repubs and Dems were against him, i knew he was worth supporting

if he were born in the US, i can guarantee you the presidential buzz would have started which is wild considering his experience. But i think it’s a testament to how starved we are for leadership

Because he’s actually trying to do something. I’m so sick of the Pelosi’s of the world promising me they are going to not solve my issues but it’s okay because they aren’t Trump. Like yeah I’ll still vote for you over him but I have no confidence you aren’t also screwing me over.

And when he can’t get something done, will they stick around? For the record, I’d vote for the guy considering the other choices on the ballot, but I’m not really sold on some of his policies and I’m not a New Yorker.

He’s showing the leadership that’s missing from establishment “leaders” Schumer and Jefferies. It’s time to wake up Democrats, easy-money incrementalism is over.

  14. Dude hasn’t even done anything yet and he’s already a “national leader.”

When are Americans going to stop worshipping politicians like idols?

We’re in unprecedented times let’s shake things up with someone willing to do something for the people who put them where they’re at.

He will be governing over 8 million people. He will be the executive of a city with a higher population than 37 states. Of a city with more financial impact than any state outside of California or his own. Of a city with more ethnic and religious diversity than any other. He will absolutely be a national figure. That’s literally the defining feature of being mayor of New York.

As a Republican, I am very glad to hear that he has national support from youth. Keep up the good work!

Don’t think he can run as a VP candidate, but him and Newsom would have wrecked house in the next election. Though, if we are ignoring laws maybe folks born outside the country but are a citizen should be allowed to run.

  19. He’s making people excited and giving them hope. Do I think he is going to be able to do everything he wants to? No. But I do think he is going to at least try.

  20. I’m Canadian and haven’t been this interested in a mayoral election since the Rob Ford days.

    Mandani represents hope

  21. He is and that’s the reason Obama suddenly showed up after years of kite surfing with billionaires. He is pumping the corporate Dems who see this guy and AOC as a threat. He did the same in the 2020 primaries when he took out some of the candidates to allow Biden to win, because when they were a bunch candidates Bernie was winning easily. He’s the definition of the Trojan Horse since his first presidency.

  22. In about 5 years we will start seeing younger politicians entering primaries who were inspired by mamdani.

Hahaha. It’s hilarious that NPR can still look in the mirror and tell themselves that they’re not just another cheerleader for the DNC.

I’m old enough to remember when they were comparing Obama to a GOD! LULZ!
