Wouldn’t work. The poor has to use 100% of their income spending so they’ll be taxed on literally everything. The rich can pick and choose how much of their income/revenue to spend and still have savings not being spent so they don’t get taxed on those.

Well no by that logic a couple without kids would be taxed lower than a couple with kids because they have greater ability to save as a result of lower expenses

You mean like GST? Let’s raise it to 20% and lower marginal tax rates.

“Someone who earns £70,000 but saves £25,000 would face a lower tax bill than someone who earns £50,000 and spends it all.
This creates an incentive to save in high-earning years.”
Many people don’t have high earning years. They would always pay a higher tax than a wealthier person who can afford to save money. This proposal is a regressive taxation system that favours the wealthy over the poor.

Maybe just tax the Oil & Gas companies like Qatar and Norway.
Then we don’t have to worry about rampant gov wastage and eroding consumption of the middle class

Do you want less trade? Because that’s how you get less trade.

I just want family income to be taxed as one.
The fact that government benefits are calculated on household income but for taxation it’s separate is a joke.

How about we just remove a lot of the tax loopholes for corporations and the very wealthy?
You want people to spend in the economy and raising taxes on goods will slow that down
It will impact low income earners the most, while the wealthy pay less tax

Im all for a user pays system. Too many tax dodgers not paying their share.

We don’t tax EVERYONE what they earn now, maybe try that first?
Sorry, my family trust lawyer and corporate lawyer and my tax minimisation lawyer are in a conference and I probably shouldn’t say any more. Tax deductible silence is golden.

What do you think the gst does? It taxes based on expenditure

Thats a quick way to tax the fuck out of the poor (we spend a high proportion of our income) while lowering taxes on the rich (as thry spend a smaller portion of their money)
