It makes me wonder if watching porn has just become another big money spinner for the therapy and self-help industry. Is it really any different to people going to clubs / using dating apps to get hook ups and casual sex? Isn’t that also degrading our relationships?

The vaguenes of language and lack of real numbers really makes this seem to be a manufacturing consent article.
Only hard number it gives is 53% of 3000 accredited UK therapists report a ‘rise’ in sex addiction cases( rise of what to what?). So 47% reported no change or possibly it even fell (gasp).
So a technically correct answer could be there are just over 1590 more sex addicted people than last time this survey was done.
Obligatory not a therapist but the way they descibe the addiction just sounds like depression but I’m lying in bed doomscrolling porn hoping for some dopamine rather than just doomscrolling reddit.
