Isnt it that if you examine the genetics of many rural european regions, that if you go back far enough, most people can trace their lineages back to just a couple of guys in the whole region?
Edit: similarly, there is a timeperiod in the ancient middle east, where the genetic lineages of 85% of males suddenly vanished. It seems that warfare regularly dispatched of the majority of the male population
