    >A solicitor whose firm represents dozens of asylum claimants has questioned whether the government’s plans will comply with a 2022 high court ruling on mobile phone seizures.

    >Jonah Mendelsohn, from Wilson Solicitors, said the government has not identified any form of independent oversight to ensure that searches are fair and legal.

It’s incredible how much money there must be in being an activist lawyer.

The fact that they’ve had to introduce new legislation to do a simple, common sense thing that I bet most people just assumed was already being done, shows just how outdated, unfit for purpose and open to abuse the laws in this area are.

With the way this government’s going with internet laws, don’t be shocked if this starts applying to us citizens too in the near future.

  5. Ok, look at it like this: these people are illegals and so are not really afforded cover under the law. They aren’t part of the social contract. All fine and dandy.

But! How long do you think it will take for the UK police state to start doing the same to legals? That is where I would point my activism.
