I can shop at Aldi or Lidl and choose from wall to wall British produce at great prices. I can only buy imported produce from Asda at vastly inflated prices. I’ll only go to Asda for detergent and light bulbs etc.
Easy choice to make tbh.

Not really sure who ASDA are supposed to be be for these days. Not exactly inexpensive and the shops themselves are like walking into a 90s time warp except everything is much more depressing. The staff all seem like they’re on ketamine and every time I’ve been in one the shelves have been poorly stocked.

Asdas ” exceptional ” range is really good, like m and s quality. I go out of my way sometimes. Lidl and Aldi is ok but not much to get excited about for Christmas so I am surprised a bit.

Coop you need to apply for a second mortgage before you enter and Asda is always like walking into a war zone. Not surprised at all.

Waitrose and M&S performing strongly is the most interesting part of the story for me. It’s not a simple case of people just trying to save their pennies, it’s also people perceiving certain supermarkets as _better value_, including when it comes to higher quality products being seen as worth their higher prices.
As the likes of Tesco and ASDA get noticeably more expensive, it’s probably natural to conclude “well if I’m going to be paying more I might as well just go to the nicer shop”.

We’d honestly have spent more at M&S if they had better supply chains. We couldn’t give them enough of our money this Christmas.
Tried multiple times throughout Nov/Dec to get their Christmas chocolate tin, munch tins and the bakery ‘best ever’ mince pie via store or Ocado and they were either sold out or unavailable.

Quality of Asda fresh produce isn’t comparable to the rest. I don’t find them anywhere as good value either. Don’t know who is affording to shop in Co-op but it isn’t me anyway. Aldi and Lidl are streets ahead from these other two.

Lidl had no chicken yesterday in 3 of the fridges that normally has it. Certain veg looked old and like it was from a week ago.
It only takes a few days of no foot deliveries and we are in handmaidens territory. Could most people survive off a week of hardly any food in the super markets? I could but I can cook and have cupboard staples.

Asda for some reason sells our cat food cheaper – apart from that is Lidl or a convenient Tesco for me.

Personally, I’m not a fan of Aldi. At my local store, the stock is very limited when it comes to the items I actually buy, and the quality is questionable at best. On top of that, prices can feel high for a store that’s supposed to be budget-friendly. I much prefer shopping at Lidl, as I find they offer more choice, better quality, and a more genuinely budget-conscious shopping experience.
