  1. I’d say a year ago nobody in my circle of friends owned a BEV (a couple did have hybrids), now two people do. Want to know the biggest change, when they (as opposed to journalists or people on the web) say just how cheap they are run in comparison to ICE cars. Yes they do have driveways which makes life easier. They’ve also never had range problems (400+mile range cars are a thing now as well).

  2. Which is why we don’t need to be giving out £4k subsidies which just helps keep prices up.

Could probably drop the bus cap back down to £2 with the money going to car subsidies.

I work in the trade and this is not what it looks like.

Dealers have been tasked by their brands to register (note not sell) a certain amount to hit thresholds in order to not be fined. This means stupid deals have been done and vehicles registered that wouldn’t otherwise have been carried out.

The appetite from the general public is still very much not where these figures would suggest, this happens every December historically since EV mandates have been in place.

  4. This happens every December. They discount EVs to shift them from stock to hit the targets which run for a calendar year.

The numbers will return to normal in January.

  5. Absolute lies. There is 0 demand as you can see by their availability and second hand prices…

Do your own research using autotrader . As others have said not sold registered to meet ev mandate to avoid fines and then sorn. Preregistration cars with less than 100 miles as from 2023/24 on there for sale. Massive discount or depreciation depending who is writing the article, why private buyers includes myself are not buying as may as government / motor industry thought they would.

They are becoming a lot more common on the road which is great to see.

Currently in the market for one myself. I think it’ll either be a Polestar or BYD preferably.
