One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has said she is ready to lead the country, as her party captures record high polling for a minor party, saying she has “really got a job ahead” of her.

In The Australian’s Newspoll, One Nation was polling at 22 per cent of the primary vote, above the Coalition. No other poll has shown numbers that high. This masthead’s Resolve Political Monitor shows the party at 18 per cent of the primary vote.

“I want to thank the Australian people for their support and confidence they are now advocating for One Nation. This is the first poll in Australia’s history that another party is polling higher than one of the major parties. I am proud to acknowledge One Nation is polling higher than the Liberals,” Hanson told journalists at Parliament House in Canberra.

“I’m not just here to prop up the Coalition or the Labor Party or anyone else. I put out clear policies now for three decades,” she said.

“I’ve really got a job ahead of me now, I really have. By putting us at 22 per cent of the national poll at the moment, that said I’ve got a hell of a job ahead of me with my other colleagues, and we’ve got to maintain that support and confidence from the Australian people that we can hopefully form government,” she said.

Hanson said the support comes after she stood her ground on issues like net zero, the COVID-19 vaccine and migration.

“It is not racism to call out or criticise policy, which the [sic] both major political parties have tried to advocate,” she said.

  1. No thanks, We don’t need to have even more incompetent government then what we had under the coalition.

  2. Is she ready to understand how our electoral system works? Can’t be a prime minister with less than 10 seats in the House.

I actually don’t think she’ll want to, the party is meant for making money and trying to run a Government would not be fun at all

    >I put out clear policies now for three decades,” she said.

Pretty funny, I could come up with a more detailed and developed policy platform in one afternoon

  4. ONP are all smoke and mirrors and with Gina supporting her the Howard LNP play book will be the same.

The smoke and mirrors LNP Howard played was running with

    “Immigration Dressed as Education”
“Labour Hire Dressed as Skilled Migrants”
    “Subsidisation Dressed as Privatisation”

and gave birth to the Pauline Hanson party in early 2000.

  5. God help us. One Nation are not a serious party with actual policies. They are a reactionary party of feelings.

If you want to see what that’s like, look at the US.

When the next election rolls around, they might see a spike in their primary vote, but overall, their preferences will flow to the Libs and Nats. They might also pick up a few seats, but nowhere near enough to win the election, or form opposition.

Labor have three advantages. The first is that they’re still polling well ahead, the second is they can operate policy levers to win votes and the third is that they can call an early election if it appears they are in a position of strength and the right-wing bloc is split.

One Nation has one major advantage, public opinion is turning on immigration.

I’m sure this won’t end in disaster for the right wing, just like the consequences of the Queensland 1998 state election didn’t end up putting the LNP out of government for a decade.

  9. We so need a strong right wing leader in this country. We have been ruined by liberal thinking for far too long. This country needs drastic change if it is ever going to have a bright future

  10. Really?? A person who can barely string two sentences together? I don’t think so. She’s an embarrassment.

  11. Please excuse me…hahahahahahahahah. Hell will have frozen over if her party wins 76 seats.

Wheres that picture of the dude in the not-winning-podium-place showering himself with champagne and cheering?

  13. Brackish_Ameoba on

Lol. what an absolute deluded grifter she is. There is simply no way on this earth her party is EVER – not in 2028 or before she retires and then the party of Pauline withers and dies – winning a majority of seats in the HoR.

  14. I’m genuinely curious: putting aside the racism and bigotry, what substantive policy does One Nation offer?

  15. OneOfTheManySams on

One Nation aren’t going to form government anytime soon. But they definitely look like they are about to shake up the senatefor 2028 which will make things interesting to say the least.

  16. As a sign of dedication to her readiness to become PM, she should resign from parliament ASAP.

Lmao Australians have learnt nothing from America’s reactionary lessons , thr left wing parties have learnt nothing from the democrats failure.

  18. Well done on the Media for reporting responsibly and not pouring petrol on a false headline premise….. /s

FFS – where are the mainstream journalists with integrity?

Cooked to imagine Hanson who ran a fish and chip shop *leading the country*. Australians own Donald Trump (or is that Clive Palmer 🤔 )

  20. I can’t wait for the shit show at the next election. She can’t manage a single term with a small handful of sitting members without half of them deflecting or quitting. Will be even worse with the increased ego and hubris, along with scrutiny that these numbers will be bringing to the party

Pauline certainly has the wind in her sails at the moment, and what I mean by that is that she is experiencing the benefits of being backed by that toad-faced mining magnate/poet.

  22. Has One Nation every won a seat in the House? Who are they planning to form a coalition with? Why would the other party (who would have the majority of seats based on Pauline’s track record) care what One Nation has to say to allow Pauline to lead?

I’ve never run for any political seat and have a better chance to become PM
