The futures of senior Nationals senators Bridget McKenzie, Ross Cadell and Susan McDonald are in question after the trio opposed the Coalition's official position on hate speech laws.
Senator McKenzie says she is "well aware" of her obligations as a shadow minister, as Coalition MPs ask whether the three will have to resign.
The National and Liberal party rooms are meeting separately this morning to discuss the consequences of the split vote.

This is why the country is not a democracy…
They should be free to speak and say as they want, not be persuaded into decisions due to alliance with a party… proof we are not in a democracy
Bridget McKenzie should be sacked for a violation of shadow cabinet solidarity. And she should leave parliament as a whole.
By the way, McKenzie claims to pro-Israel but then votes against antisemitism legislation and is one of the biggest supporters of Qatar Airways in Australia. She has passionately defended and promoted that airline fully owned by a government that supports Hamas. She was a big supporter of Qatar getting more landing rights here and Qatar acquiring a stake in Virgin Australia, which they successfully did.
Also, if the Royal Commission finds that Qatar is directly or indirectly involved in Australia’s antisemitism crisis, as some commentators have flagged, then the best possible punishment is to force the divestment of QR’s stake in Virgin Australia and a potential ban of QR from our airspace.
Labor must be pigs in shit right now. Never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake.
