It seems pressure is growing now on the right for a Liberal leadership challenge within the next week.
One senior MP who supports Hastie said events could escalate quickly: “I’m not sure if this even holds until February when we’re back in parliament.”
Imagine the shambles of Hastie announcing his intent to challenge before parliament reconvenes and a public week of open warfare between Ley and Hastie.
Whenever you think they’ve hit rock bottom, the Liberal party will always find a way to sink lower.

Unlike Ley, Hastie has no intention of trying to unify the party. If anything, he’ll create an entity more like One Nation.
As fucking hilarious it will be, and while the wealthy and corporate media have it out for The Greens, it will leave Australia as essentially a single party democracy.

The Coalition needs to just burn itself to the ground. Labor will be fine with no opposition, the Coalition though, they need to disband and start from scratch. They are not ready to lead this country for at least another 5-10 years, maybe more. Whole place needs a clean out from top to bottom.

Well they need to sort something out. Sussan might be a nice person, but leader? She is not. Hastie is a lot further Right…suppose if he wins leadership we’d have to see where that takes them. Only time will tell.

The truth is that Labor should be worried about a leader like Andrew Hastie. More far-right than Don Trump, Peter Dutton, Pauline Hanson and Nigel Farage.
He seen by the average voter as young, slick, fresh, strong, handsome, clear and articulate. Characteristics Dutton never had. But does the average voter want new government-owned coal fired plants built? Does the average voter want Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags banned? Does the average voter want a national abortion ban and the 2017 SSM laws overturned? Does the average voter want a 1960s Australia?
For 2028 Labor should consider running Mark McGowan in Canning and put Hastie last on the HTV card, even below One Nation, Family First etc.

This could be interesting. I do wonder if we end up with another Scomo situation that was set in play to stop Dutton.

Hastie is the right guy at the right time. Will be a very strong leader.
I know many young Aussie patriots who are rooting for him.

Australia was the Lucky Country to live in with good standard of living, safe and mostly Christian. You can see now that taking that all away has been the result of not enough Conservatives in Parliament. The Economy is the driver of all prosperity. We will be the next Venezuela if we don’t have a strong conservative government. Younger voters complain about Boomers, but they voted in Governments that worked for their prosperity.

If, as the article suggests, Hastie has more support in the National Right then he could become leader, though I’m not sure the faction will fully swing behind him and the other factions would probably prefer Taylor unless they’re desperate enough that they want drastic change. I also wouldn’t expect a WA MP to become leader but I guess it’s possible

And frankly let’s be honest, Peter Dutton was a good reliable man but Hastie will [get 2-5% more votes based on vibes and aesthetics alone](https://x.com/drewpavlou/status/1974763786251739255?s=46&t=xSYLnqsRVgAIYtAQOgKFIA)
