But where do these "free market" think tanks come from? What's their purpose?

Everytime I hear people talk about the Atlas network, I’m always reminded of the conservatives who talk about how the world is secretly ran by the fabian society.
The United States is the only country where this is an issue where the politicians will just pass bills handed to them by think tanks on the left and right.
In Australia, the bills passed are always written by the public service.
