And of course their math doesn’t add up. All they are doing is flinging shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

    > By separating, Albertans could also be shooting future job prospects in the foot. Thomson, who has British citizenship, used to be able to freely work anywhere in the E.U. But since Brexit, she and many Britons have been hampered in their job mobility and investments as the United Kingdom’s economy shrank by 18 per cent in the last decade. With the oilsands shedding workers, Albertans could be stranding themselves economically.

Ain’t no “Could” about it. It 100% is would.

  2. Even after separating out the economic and emotional arguments for and against, it is a bit funny that the referendum will end up causing the opposite effect to the stated goal of the majority of supporters – concessions. After ten years of Trudeau and inflation, and once the “for” vote tops out at 20-30%, it kind of tells a future government they can be about twice as terrible before they have to worry about a true separation crises. By dispelling the mystique around the actual size of the separation movement, it neuters its previously outsized power to affect any kind of change.

If Jeff and Mitch were thinking ahead, they’d take the opportunity to shelve the petition “to avoid the potential for foreign interference” or some such and go back to trying to build the movement up as something bigger than it is.

  3. No, trust them! Once Alberta separated, they would get 75% of the CPP fund, and make Canada give them a fully equipped military, continue funding Healthcare for the new country!

Also any Canadian will shine an Albertans boots on demand! It’s gonna be great!

Well of course it doesn’t make sense. They get their math and reading skills from Facebook and they dropped out of school at Grade 2.

  5. I remember when montreal was nothing more than a louer signs in 1995.

Maybe Vancouver will become Toronto 2.0. but hey at least real estate will be dirt cheap for a while in Edmonton and Calgary.

  6. Well they lie a lot. Have to deceive to get that anger going to manipulate folks into following them, especially as it’s not in their best interest.
