Most of these graves were belonged to Australian soldiers who fought in WW2. About 20+ New Zealand graves were also destroyed.

In 2006 an Israeli missile damaged British graves at this same cemetery and they paid the British government £90,000 in compensation.

Wonder what, if anything, the Israeli government will do to compensate us ANZACs?

  1. Wait are we saying Australians who have been supporting the bombing of Gaza to this point, now have a reason to be outraged at Israel or is this still Hamas’ fault?

This wasn’t a stray missile or bomb, but an actual bulldozing, this was thought out and planned. They chose to destroy the graves, and desecrate the dead.

My great-grandfather fought in Gaza and Palestine in general in the First World War. It looks like the graves of his mates weren’t touched, the British graves were, from World War One, but the graves of our World War Two fallen have been desecrated.

Never mind that the only reason Israel was even possible was because British and Empire forces took Palestine from the Ottomans.

Hamas didn’t touch them, but Israel did… At the very least we should be summoning their ambassador. If the ANZAC legacy actually matters and isn’t just an opportunity to virtue signal, we’d do this.

  3. I can’t think of another action that should unite all Australia in condemnation better than the desecration of ANZAC graves. Israel is pissing directly into our faces here.
