It’s not scapegoating immigrants to say that the government used insane immigeration numbers to cover up the horrible economy and prop everything up so they could maintain power.

  5. Well since DS is the picture they are using I’ll comment on her.

She’s not using immigrants as a scapegoat, plus she has no intention on governing responsibly. There’s a plan on place and she moving that plan forward. Blaming immigrants is just a distraction. So is blaming Ottawa, liberals, the woke, and the LGBTQ community. It’s all a distraction while she breaks the system. It’s the same thing Trump is doing, Putin, Xi and other dictators around the world, they are all following the same formula cause they want more power and more money cause they are evil.

With social media and AI the right for democracy, page and all that’s good will only get more difficult. We will just keep dividing ourselves and attacking each other while the rich and powerful keep stealing a bigger peace of the pie and we keep moving towards a modern slavery.

The only immigrants I blame are the ones driving truck with licenses from those fake driver colleges

You can blame immigration policy without blame immigrants.

If you think about it, immigrants are also suffering the results of a bad policy design, suffering the consequences of it on housing, health-care, lack of jobs in their fields and etc.

Danielle for example is a hypocrite: Alberta Conservatives spent years surfing the wave of “come to Alberta”. I’ve seen thousands of those ads in Toronto during the peak of the housing crisis. And now she’s like “oh no, I never did that. Immigrants bad”

Really shitty move by a traitor of this country.

Smith can”t hear you since she has plugged her ears and is singing “LALALA, I CANT HEAR YOU!!! LALALA!!!”

  9. She wanted an Alberta of 10 million, with Red Deer having a million people.

How tf were we supposed to do that? Binary fission?

This is just another case of Smith pandering because of her own government’s incompetence, time and time again.

The fool who wrote this drivel cannot be taken seriously. Mind you he identifies as a “Reverend” no less, so there is that.

His statement : *We must also remember that, unless you are Indigenous, we are all immigrants or the descendants of people who immigrated.*

is beyond ignorant. He must believe that the indigenous people just spontaneously. magically just appeared in the Americas as opposed to at least [3 distinct immigration waves through the Bearing straight ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peopling_of_the_Americas)ice paths that we know of, displacing and co-mingling with whoever was here before, exactly like what the Europeans did.

  11. The Reverend is correct. Immigration isn’t the problem. Its abuse is a symptom of the core problem.

Not mentioned in the article, her suggested policies look like they’re meant to enshrine the LMIA abuse we’re seeing, not reduce immigration.

  12. This article is a blatant gaslighting attempt and cherry picks situations to dampen the real consequences unsustainable immigration has. You can’t get the federal government to budge on immigration governance unless you point out the consequences their unsustainable immigration regulations are causing.

  13. Something like 3.5 million temporary visas and Temporary Work Permits expiring by the end of 2026 according to IIRC.

  14. improvthismoment on

    Hard to argue with this

*”The reality is that immigrants bring amazing gifts to our province. Immigrants are often some of the best and brightest from their home countries and come to Alberta because they are eager to share their skills, talents and ambition. The dynamism they bring is a critical factor in building the economy and culture of our province.*

*We must also remember that, unless you are Indigenous, we are all immigrants or the descendants of people who immigrated, and were given opportunities and support as we built a life here. Trying to turn immigrants against those who immigrate after them is an old technique of political manipulation, not responsible government.”*

  15. Counterpoint: If you consider this class warfare as the rich bring in scabs to undercut the poors, then you kind of can blame both the rich for causing the problem, and the scabs for not being class conscious.

  16. Immigration is part of government policy. Discussing the proper levels and criteria for accepting immigrants is not scapegoating them, it’s acting like an adult.

Funny how Trudeau is allowed to literally utter the words “[we] didn’t get the balance quite right” and “made some mistakes” but when Smith is saying the government is not getting the balace quite right, it is suddenly beyond the pale.

The ‘Reverand’ should just let the adults who were voted in, govern the country.

  17. names-r-hard1127 on

It’s not a this or that thing. I’ll stop blaming immigrants when they stop causing problems and I’ll stop being mad at the government when they do their job instead of wasting time and resources on political stunts

  18. Artimusjones88 on

Immigration is fine for skilled jobs we can’t fill here, not all the menial jobs we are too fat dumb and entitled to do.

Make it as difficult to get in here as Australia. Up the English proficiency, up the knowledge of Canada. The customs, cultural differences, add in a mandatory deportation if arrested and convicted of any crime.

It’s our own fault for being so lenient

  19. Governing responsibly also means having sustainable population growth. For many years, it wasn’t sustainable in Canada. It’s not rocket science that with population growth slowing, housing is also cooling off and affordability is improving.

But you gotta have a group to pin bad governance on. First it’s based on race, then immigrants, then trans people, then immigrants, then gays and lesbians, then gingers. “Sarcasm
