– A Ukrainian prisoner of war freed from Moscow’s captivity appeared at a campaign rally for Viktor Orban’s party in eastern Hungary.
– The appearance of the prisoner and the release of videos featuring ethnic Hungarian soldiers praising their Russian captors have been seen as evidence of Russian interference in the election.
– The Hungarian prime minister’s party has built an election campaign that aligns with Kremlin talking points on Ukraine, casting Kyiv as an “enemy” and accusing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of deliberately choking off Hungary’s energy supplies.

At this point, Orban isn’t even bothering with subtlety. He’s just openly campaigning for Russia.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s good to see people expose their true faces, but it would be better if other people (i.e. the EU) actually behaved accordingly.

His people might hate him, but knowing how conservative people are in his country – I would not expect them choosing anyone with liberal views. That’s how he got the seat in the first place.
US is a good example, many thought that NO WAY they would elect Orange man again, but here we are…

Turns to help in just the final stretch? Not the first stretch, and the last election?

This desperation likely means acts of desperation when it all goes to hell. My previous checklist for this election is halfway completed already and that leaves only the day of the election and the first night.
Opposition needs to organize a full night oversight of each vote counting place, to have physical presence of a crowd until the count is complete.
What likely to happen is a lot of fake votes to be tossed in and miscounts in favor of Orban to be overwhelming. Those doing the count (government workers that have been told what to do and expect as well as consequences for not following the party line) need to have the people’s support when it comes down to individual pressure point of faking numbers. This has worked in Russia. If the turnout is overwhelming, it will be much harder to fake the votes, for the person that is doing the faking to actually execute in the final stretch. Knowing that the people are outside the doors.
Succceeding at that, the worst thing that could happen is actual military involement. Its no coinsidence Orban has been drumming up the anti-Ukraine narratives in the last few weeks. The Russian media and FSB team has been confirmed to be operating on the ground, and Russia’s playbook is that of domestic terror. At this point I wouldn’t shy away from being extra mindful and aware. Orban at his desperate, having created a private military force (Akin to Ukranian Berkut unit, charged with cracking down on maidan protests) is likely in play and orchestrated by the FSB. They have plan A’s, plan B’s all the way down to military lockdown. We may see Hungary go full internet blackout.
If Orban flinches and flees, he will become the voice in exsile that will return one day. If opposition wins, it will have to carry the burden and responsibility for all Orbans corruption over the years, it will be very hard to retain faith on year 4 of a 20 year fix plan. Catch that fat pig before he gets away on a plane filled with gold and euros to Russia.
One nice mindfuck the opposition can declare, is to have full immunity to Orban and his family, those talks have probably been had in private already. Dont honor that deal. Jail that dork.
