I feel like they’re going out of their way to target Dubai in particular. I guess of all the other places in the region it relies the least on oil/gas so go after their tourism sector would have a long standing impact

So Dubai as a tourist destination likely over forever?

They’re trying to execute “mutually assured destruction” without access to nukes.
Iran’s doctrine in attacking random unaligned (not unaligned for long, the way things are going) third party countries and their citizens and oil infra and ships and airports and hotels and high rises has been “If I’m going down, I’m taking everyone down with me. The whole world is going down with me.”
Great strategy to inflict pain on their enemies. They’ve successfully inflicted much pain on the west and the globalized economy. Terrible strategy to have any friends once the war is over, or to not get previously neutral or friendly gulf states to join in on retaliating against Iran.
It’s funny in the west you have kids blaming the US for Iran’s attacks on random innocents and their terrorism. In the gulf states, the actual targets of the attacks (which are meant to threaten them “this is what will happen to you if you’re friendly with the US”), it’s done the opposite, it’s unified a bunch of Arab states against Iran and brought them closer to the US and Israel as Iran takes off the mask and shows what they’re capable of and what they’ll do to their neighbors if left unpacified. The Iran boogeyman that for so long the west made out to be such an existential threat? Turns out they weren’t exaggerating, this boogeyman was real. Their neighbors see and feel it do its handiwork in real time.
All Iran is doing in flailing around missile and drone striking everyone in the gulf is proving the US’ point that they can’t be allowed a nuke, because just see what they can and will do without one. It’s making the argument to all the gulf why they should be pacified and dismantled. As long as Iran is left unpacified, the gulf states will never be safe. They’re living next to a madman.

Iran just want Dubai airport to remain closed

Why wouldn’t the headline just say the airport was attacked? It makes it sound like the fire and drone were unrelated.

I don’t understand, how is this hurting the US again? I thought they’re hitting US and Israeli interests in the region i.e. bases etc…
