  1. Trump responded to a reporter asking why the
U.S. didn’t notify U.S. allies before carrying out Operation Epic Fury, in front of Japan’s PM:

“Who knows better about surprises than Japan? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?”

In hindsight wasn’t Pearl Harbor a strategic mistake by Japan? As Admiral Hara Tadaichi summarized, “We won a great tactical victory at Pearl Harbor and thereby lost the war”.

  3. Wait, what?

In his comparison the U.S. are the aggressor Japan, and Iran are the defending U.S.?

    WTF.

February 28th 2026: “A date which will live in infamy.”

  4. “I thought I was well prepared for the meeting by my team, but clearly not enough for this kind of stupidity.”

    – PM Takaichi

  5. Right wing Japanese press loves to sanitize literally everything that Trump says to the point that Japan’s own diplomatic staff were shocked by how the Trump Administration behaves when they actually met them, I want to be a fly on the wall as they discuss how to sanitize this.

Trump basically said the Iran strike was a “Pearl Harbor moment”—-right in front of Japan’s PM.

  7. Is there any chance that US will again select him or his puppet in next election? Like seriously what this dude is?

Ah yes, Pearl Harbor. One of the worst strategic disasters of the 20th century.

  9. Omg.  Yes, let’s bring *that* up when talking with the Japanese PM.

The unfortunate truth is that he’s demented and nobody’s doing anything about it.  This is the sort of thing old people so when they’ve started to lose their marbles.

  10. Hey Japan. Stop embarrassing yourselves. Stand up for yourself, kick the American soldiers out of your country, and find some real allies. Canada and Europe love you and respect you.

Trump will not help you. He thinks of you as his property.

    What a dipshit.

He should ask the PM about Japan’s offensive capabilities as a result of that attack and their subsequent actions, then one of his renfields should remind him that in this scenario, we were the ones who did the surprise attack.

I absolutely hate how our country is no longer led/run by intellectuals. Regardless of how you feel about the old republican party under the Bush’s it was 1000x better than the circus we have in office now. This is just bad. We need to return to the way things were here.

While what Trump said was dumb from a geopolitical and diplomatic point of view, I fully support Imperial Japan’s past getting shoved into Japan’s face from time to time. Their nationalist are getting way too comfortable whitewashing and burying all their dark history.

Trump doesn’t know what a parallel even is. Stop trying normalize his syphilitic ramblings.

He has all the grace of a drunk three legged elephant ballet dancing up a flight of stairs backward while wearing high heels.

  16. I used to think he was purposely inflammatory. A feigned idiot who was good at getting support from his base. Clearly, he’s just stupid.

  17. Soooo if we’re drawing parallels to Pearl Harbor that means that the US (and daddy Israel) are unequivocally the bad guys right?

    He’s so dumb it hurts

  18. Red_Spy_1937 on

Considering Pearl Harbour indirectly led to Japan getting nuked twice and firebombed to ashes with B-29s, this is a god awful comparison

  19. IllButterscotch5964 on

Draws parallel. Yes that’s what he was doing. God I’m sick of the news covering for his fucking idiocy.

“This can’t be as bad as the headline makes it seem”

    (Clicks link)

Oh shit, it’s worse, it’s way worse.

  21. “Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?”

He is the USA now? That slip reveals more about his psyche than his misread of WW2 history and modern geopolitics.

  22. I’d agree entirely, but with one key difference.

In this case, the modern analogue has Iran as the one that was sitting there largely minding its own business before someone came out of nowhere and bombed a strategically important place.

  23. restore_democracy on

You’d say he must be the dumbest motherfucker who ever lived except that over 70 million people voted for him.

  24. Pearl Harbor – the famously successful attack which accomplished its goals and ultimately led to unconditional victory for the Empire of Japan!

This is actually a great analogy by Trump, he’s just such an enormous moron that he doesn’t realize that’s the point he’s making.
