This is totally different level conversation than just the facts but Do you think Republicans voters or just extremely toxic and abused people usually dislike stability , stable employment , non chaos lives? they certainly create chaos every election they win

  1. I think they just don’t believe this is true.

“Trump is good and smart” = his policies have to have good outcomes for me.

“Biden is dumb and communist” = his policies have to have bad outcomes for me.

Any media that reports anything contrary is biased and lying. This is the level of analysis, generally.

This may sound judgmental, but I have gained some insight by realizing that SOME conservative values and this new MAGA mindset are based on fear. These people are afraid. A low to mid level anxiety that doesn’t go away begs to find a source.

That’s how you get a white Christian nationalist- fear of being erased. That’s how you get an $839 Billion defense budget- fear of foreign invasion. That’s how you get someone to look past armed and masked agents prowling their streets for anyone who’s brown- fear of the enemy within.

Fear replaces signals from the prefrontal cortex, it overrides them. And so when you hear ANYONE speaking in an “insane” or other wise unfathomable manner, see if their emotions can explain their behavior. Then we can address the emotion and solve the dissonance.

Then we can move forward with policy that is guided by facts and ideas that spring from our logic centers as opposed to reacting all the time.

My husband and I have a family full of conservatives. They don’t like change and resist it like change is evil. Even if it would make their life better.

But here is the kicker. The people who embrace that change and are doing well makes a conservative feel so insecure and hateful. They can’t change. They are not going to change. So then they absolutely have to bring down the other person/group.

This can be as simple as enjoying different foods. Conservatives will ruin meals that don’t cater to their pallet preference. They will put down individuals who have changed their diet for health reasons and are getting healthier.

They will yell and scream at individuals who use family planning successfully when they have many unplanned pregnancies and children.

They will disown children for not going along with abusive family systems.

They will steal money or act entitled to family members who are doing well financially. Or demand that you bail them out of their poor financial choices.

Instead of learning from a successful person, they see them as a threat.

I think politics and government have become like sports teams to too many people. If you are a Chicago Bears fan you love them no matter what and even if they suck, you will never root for the opposing team. It’s like the only thing that matters is the election itself and not what the people put in power do with it. Any support or criticism of the government isn’t always focused only on how any action will impact the next election and not the real life consequences. Unfortunately, this isn’t a game and we are all affected by the outcomes together. There aren’t really two teams, just one team and we are all on it.

Completely agree. I’m in a deep red rural town.

They show up to job interviews poorly dressed then act all shocked when they don’t get the job.

Some spend their time in school not learning anything and then act all confused when they can’t get a job paying more than $10.

They yell at workers then wonder why the workers won’t help them.

Simple, easy choices avoid all the above. However, they choose the difficult path every time.

  6. Evidence suggests that when hardcore Republican voters say the economy is their top concern, what they’re really tweaked about is the loss of the old one-paycheck, job-for-life, Dad’s-the-Boss family, when being a white American meant you ran the world because Dad single-handedly kicked Hitler’s ass and took every island in the Japanese Empire as well.

I exaggerate, but reaction against change is the underlying issue. Living wage jobs are reserved for the educated, and education is too costly. Women are now the breadwinners. Men who beat their families lose them. Rural places are left behind. Religion is in decline. The US is no longer the only rich, decent country to live in.

Meanwhile, Democrats are stuck in the past, championing narrow interest groups like unions and trans people, while refusing to tackle their own dependency on campaign money or to reform the obsolete, unfair Constitution that devalues the votes of the majority.

  7. I liked a lot of his policies, like giving more power to the workers and enforcing antitrust laws. His problem was that he sucked at being a president, 80% of a president’s job is selling their agenda. And he just couldn’t do it.
