Even if Trump backs out, the Iranian leadership will come out stronger and they won’t simply let it go without making sure there is a cost. They likely would continue disrupting the Hormuz for months afterwards and also take the opportunity to essentially toll the strait for benefits and passage of ships, there is also no chance they wouldn’t fastrack nukes immediately afterwards.
Then there is also Israel, its definitely not going to de-escalate after Dimona either.
In Trump’s case, he’ll have no choice but to follow through with his ultimatum.

China gets its tankers through. India gets its tankers through. Europe gets its tankers through. none of them have any material reason to side with Washington now. Iran basically made the entire US-built coalition structurally irrelevant in one press statement.
