Victoria bills itself as the ‘education state’ but thousands of school teachers are set to strike. Here’s what it means

  1. We’re the ‘education’ State simply because our Unis churn out degrees to international students. It’s one of the bigger contributors to our GSP. Our actual schooling system has nothing to do with it. I think last check we were second last on educational outcomes and our teachers the lowest paid or close.

    But this is Victopia – we have a super dooper new train set getting built from Westfield Cheltenham to Westfield Box Hill. These teachers will be able to shop until they drop!

  2. Federal Labor locked in underfunding of public schools around the country out to 2034, meanwhile overfunding private schools. The whole country should be striking, except that Labor helped erode strike rights back in the 80s/90s.
