I mean fair enough, it’s a long while away. But they’ll likely be slaughtered with OPV if ON prefs aren’t directed to them

Considering 75% of the state lives in a metropolitan area, they’re real desperate for votes if they’re hoping to the 1 old guy with an Australian flag hanging from his 1bd unit window most suburbs have.

If this goes like SA, Libs give free preferences to ON, get nothing in return. The Libs end up second fiddle to ON and have nothing to show for it. Wonderful strategy.

Lol, good luck with that, they dont follow preferences correctly anyway, and a lot of people see one nation as equivalent to leapers and wont preference them either. Whine Nation is pretty likely gonna ensure a one party state going forward.

This would be a bad idea, even if unlike in SA ON returns the favour.
Do the Liberals want to cement ON as another right wing opposition. With OPV any One Nation rise is bad for the Liberals.
Unlike in Adelaide, there are many seats that the Liberals are competitive in with a high non-white vote, including older communities who remember when Hanson was even more racist in the 1990s. Putting One Nation higher will provoke a backlash. Dutton got killed in parts of Sydney (and Melbourne) where they could have been competitive, partially because of that.

Given how the average NSW Lib voter votes, this is electoral poison and would likely bleed former Blue Ribbon seats to Teals. There are a *lot* of multicultural but conservative seats that would hold their noses and vote Labor if this happened.
I keep saying – Hit your ideological “ally.” If Howard could understand this basic fact I don’t know how Kellie couldn’t.

But they’re moderates right? They keep insisting they’re moderates? Can they not see that pandering to ON/right flank means they lose the centre, without which they cannot win government?
