The opposition leader, Angus Taylor, will speak to the country on Thursday night, a day after an address from Anthony Albanese.

Despite criticising the prime minister for wasting time on Wednesday night, the Liberal leader will be broadcast at 7pm, with a statement about the war in Iran and the global energy crisis.

The ABC will broadcast the message.

Taylor said on Thursday that Albanese’s address “could have been a social media post”. He criticised the lack of detail, urging the prime minister to give Australians confidence and certainty in the weeks and months ahead.

If he gets up to undermine the govs call for calm during a crisis that would be truly abhorrent.

    Oh.
Sorry, I think i have to watch the tomato’s grow at that time….

  3. A social media post? Nah, a social media post has more substance. Albanese just loves the sound of his own voice

  4. And if anyone knows about social media posts it’s well done great move Angus.

Seeing as he was the energy minister during the Morrison government his annoucement better not be anything more than an apology to the Australian public

  6. Albo wasn’t trying to actually solve the problem.

It was just politics. An attempt to link in the minds of voters, all the pre-existing hardship and cost of living issues he created, to the Iran situation that started basically last week.

  7. The same Angus Taylor who secretly increased the cost of electricity during the election Morrison lost?

Perhaps he wasn’t familiar with social media back then.
