How much control would you give a smart home system to reduce your electricity bill?

Would you trust a smart home system to automatically manage your electricity usage if it lowered your bill?

For example:

• running appliances at cheaper times
• shifting energy usage automatically
• optimizing things in the background

The trade-off is that you lose some direct control over when things happen.
