Trump is trashing electric vehicles. China is building cars the world wants. China is leapfrogging the US with the availability of more advanced, cheaper EVs, while Trump is cutting subsidies and making other moves that could leave the US behind. “You will be faced with half-built factories here…”

Once you drive electric you don’t go back. Auto makers need to go full in or die. Trump is temporary idiocy.
Biden’s policies stuck a finger in the leaking dam that is China’s green energy products. It is only a matter of time before it breaks. China may not believe in green energy, but they believe in the rest of the world buying their green energy products and making a lot of money. China is good at seeing what the world will want and producing a lot of that at cheap prices. The problem with the US or other countries is that companies don’t have the time to lose money because of investors. Everyone points to Tesla but government subsidies due to a few states with carbon credit allowed it to stay afloat for so long until they figured it out.
What’s the problem? The rest of the world will be in EV’s. As long as I get my choice of new ICE cars (especially sports cars) I don’t see a problem. Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about that in my lifetime.
Trump is incapable of even remembering what he had for breakfast. His push for more fossil fuel consumption makes zero sense on any strategic level, it is just done to repay his benefactors in the oil and coal industries. Trump has sealed the fate of the United States as a second class country for a century, just like the UK after WW2.
