How will this bill impact your electric bill? The GOP budget is projected to make energy more expensive and less reliable. It will:
- Increase wholesale electricity prices by 25 percent by 2030 and 74% by 2035
- Cause electricity rates for customers to increase between 9-18% by 2035
- Increase overall household energy costs by $170 annually by 2035
- Eliminate 760,000 jobs by 2030
It'll also hit home efficiency: The new budget eliminates credits for installing solar panels, water heating, and heat pumps. It also eliminates a $1,200 credit for weatherization and insulation to make your home less drafty and more resilient to weather events and wildfires.
And electric vehicles too: EV tax credits, which ranged up to $7,500, are now being eliminated by Congressional Republicans on September 30, 2025.
