No, the economy and farmers are in a bind. The “White House” is rich and doesn’t give two squirts.

    From the article:

A photographer’s snapshot of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent at the United Nations General Assembly last week revealed a private message that captured the Trump administration’s deepening concern over collapsing U.S. soybean exports to China—a crisis now entangled with a controversial economic bailout of Argentina.

“Finally – just a heads up, I’m getting more intel, but this is highly unfortunate,” read the message, which appeared to be sent from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. “We bailed out Argentina yesterday (Bessent) and in return, the Argentine’s [sic] are removing their export tariffs on grains, reducing their price, and sold a bunch of soybeans to China, at a time when we would normally be selling to China. Soy prices are dropping further because of it. This gives China more leverage on us.”

Rollins added: “On a plane but Scott I can call you when I land.”

  3. Trump is the biglyest bestest negotiator deal artist ever, at least according to Trump.

Perhaps the Democrats should ask him what his plan is to fix it in 24 hours. Since Trump did so fantastically well with Ukraine, he can bring some magic to this.

wait…what the fuck did they think was gonna happen? You thought you’d increase the price of a production(And therefor the overall price of the product) and there wouldn’t be a response?

  5. What bind? The trump White House doesn’t give shit about anything but donald trump. Last I heard djt isn’t a soybean farmer.
    Release the Epstein Files.

  6. Lose the revenue from China and replace it with revenue generated by a tax on US citizens. MAGA is confusing.

  7. That reads like they literally just figured this out despite it having been an ongoing discussion/issue for weeks now.

  8. Yea yea soy is a big deal, but one thing nobody is talking about yet is how many if not all of these soybean processing facilities also process and store corn when soy isnt producing, the corn people are going to to be impacted as well.

Corn farmers will be next to cry when they see soy getting handouts.

  9. AwkwardTouch2144 on

China has already invested in Brasil to produce their soy bean needs. That started after Diaper Donnie slapped tariffs on them last time. China is not gonna buy our soybeans even if he drops the tariffs. US soybean producers need to find a different crop.

  10. Hear that MAGA? Time to become soyboys in the name of Murica 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 SAVE OUR FARMERS

  11. Oh…those poor farmers who voted for this exact thing to happen.

But don’t feel too bad for them. The money Americans from blue states pay into the federal government will be used to bail them out again, and they’ll thank their fellow countrymen by calling them satanists, marxists, commies, violent radicals, etc…

  12. I’ve been amazed at his admonishments after his tariffs. “Walmart you better not raise prices! China you better not retaliate.” Sure buddy. Sure.

  13. OrangutanMan234 on

You get what you vote for. Don’t bail the farmers out this time and maybe they’ll start voting for their best interests

  14. Running up to the election, there were “Farmers for Trump” signs everywhere in my rural farming area. Let them eat cake.

  15. Last year $12 Billion of Soybeans were sold to China. Same time this year $0 Soybeans have been sold. 25% of family farming businesses will fail this year. That is being conservative. Trump and crew want to bankrupt farmers so private equity groups can buy the land. The battle is over land. Farmers are the last landowners who are not part of the Oligarchic fold. With the farm economy collapsing the small and medium sized banks that lend to the farmers are massively overleveraged. The famine is coming.

  16. Faithlessfaltering on

Trump said it was gonna be difficult for farmers for a while, he ran letting everyone know this was the plan. And now they are upset?

  17. How many FBI agents do you think they have working on identifying the person that took that pic so they can threaten to prosecute them.

  18. go figure a failed businessman who specializes in conman grifts is ruining our country while enriching himself. who would have thought?

  19. American soybean sales. Argentina cut a deal like Brazils last I heard. China bought a bunch from those countries. So sales are good. Just not American sales. Not to mention all that easy USAID orders the American farmers are not getting. But the American farmers will still get paid with American tax dollars.

  20. Farmers I ain’t voting for no socialist Kamala
Also farmers I need other peoples money to survive my poor choices please

  21. Hear me out, maybe our government should stop subsidizing farmers to grow field corn that humans can’t even eat. Over 90% of U.S. corn goes into animal feed and ethanol, not food for people, and soybeans are no better since most are crushed for oil or used as livestock feed. Meanwhile, we hardly support farmers growing fruits and vegetables we actually eat. I grew up and worked on farms in rural Nebraska, in a county with some of the highest cancer rates in the country, tied to heavy pesticide use and nitrate contamination in the water (my own kid brother has cancer right now). So no, I really don’t give a shit about the Trump-voting farmers and their kids who drive $80,000 tax-subsidized pickups to high school while growing crops that end up as fuel additives instead of food. Reap what you sow, farmers.

  22. Who could have possibly predicted that our protectionist tariffs would result in other countries not wanting to buy our products?!

  23. relax_live_longer on

Not a farmer but grocery prices are through the roof. Maybe plant something you can sell here?

  24. Something something bootstraps.

I’m glad they’re having the day they voted for 🤷🏻‍♂️
