I hate to see the farmers suffer, and I hate to see this admin destroy the economy, among other things, but this should be a learning opportunity for us as well. We shouldn’t have an ag market so dependent on mono crops and individual nations to sell them to. We should focus domestic production on the needs of our people. Shrink and diversify farm operations to provide higher quality, less adulterated, sustainable foods to our people. After accounting for damage and depletion to the soil and water, fuel extraction and combustion for global transport, and all the political, health and climate issues that follow, it’s a pennies on the dollar investment. It doesn’t need to be isolationist, just rational and sustainable. Farming consolidation of crops and corporations may be the single greatest systemic domestic threat to our sovereignty, and it’s all self imposed.
