  2. Maga destroys family farms, just like the first term. Magas support farmers by giving them welfare, not by governing so their farms are viable.

  3. This was all so beyond stupidly avoidable. It’s fucking embarrassing how these countries are playing us

We helped them.out so they can sell to China to fuck over our own farmers even more…

  4. Groundbreaking-Ask-5 on

Imagine squeezing farmers out of their own business so wealthy people can buy the land and lease it back to… the farmers.

“Just a heads up. I am getting more intel, but this is highly unfortunate. We bailed out Argentina yesterday and in return, Argentina removed their export tariffs on grains, reducing their price to China at a time when we would normally be selling to China,” the message read.

“Soy prices are dropping further because of it. This gives China more leverage on us,” the message continued, with Rollins adding: “On a plane but scott I can call you when I land.”

The photograph, taken by photojournalist Angelina Katsanis for the Associated Press, has already circulated through Argentine news.

It’s tempting to think Trump and Bessent don’t understand economics very well.

  7. All these fucking dipshits had to do was take a look at what happened when trump did this soybean fuck dance in his first term

But no, they let trump do it AGAIN

Destroy farmers way of living and bankrupt them with tariffs, then bail them out with tariff money collected from the US population.  I can see how some people voted for that genius.

  9. The irony is so rich with this. We just bailed out the right’s dreamboy in Milei only for him to turn around to stick it to the US. We just got played by a buffoon of a politician.

  10. I hate to see the farmers suffer, and I hate to see this admin destroy the economy, among other things, but this should be a learning opportunity for us as well. We shouldn’t have an ag market so dependent on mono crops and individual nations to sell them to. We should focus domestic production on the needs of our people. Shrink and diversify farm operations to provide higher quality, less adulterated, sustainable foods to our people. After accounting for damage and depletion to the soil and water, fuel extraction and combustion for global transport, and all the political, health and climate issues that follow, it’s a pennies on the dollar investment. It doesn’t need to be isolationist, just rational and sustainable. Farming consolidation of crops and corporations may be the single greatest systemic domestic threat to our sovereignty, and it’s all self imposed.

  11. Said camera woman will never get back into the press pool, and may well wind up being prosecuted by these vindictive shitbirds.

She’s still more of a hero than the ones who aren’t taking useful pictures like this.

This is what happens when you hire sycophantic reality TV morons to run your government. Not saying these 2 are reality tv, but they are morons.

  13. So I don’t really “get” economics, but this seems like a fuckup completely on the US side that is a result of our own actions and seems like a predictable consequence right?

  14. So were we played by Argentina, China, or both? Or did we single-handedly do something so inept and unnecessary that we gave surprise economic advantages to both over us?

  15. Trump couldn’t have done a better job helping China get soybeans even cheaper than from US farmers if he had tried.

  16. Trump is such a a bitch.  As long as the Venezuelan guy says good things about Trump, he let’s them walk all over us.

    Fuck Trump and Fuck Venezuela.

  17. I don’t own a soy bean farm, so I don’t care. Farmers had plenty of information out there to see what kinda of morons they were giving full throated endorsements to.

They are directly suffering due to trumps tariffs and Doge cuts. They don’t get to gleefully vote for their destruction and then steal our money through bailouts funded by tariffs.

  18. Why did we bail out Argentina? Don’t we hate all foreign aid now?

    Checks notes…

Oh. Argentina has an authoritarian right-wing administration. Got it.

You know it’s bad for them when what passes for the only adult in the room is freaking out
