  1. > According to a photo of a private text on the phone of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Argentina responded to the treasury secretary’s $20 billion bailout by turning around and removing its export taxes on soybeans and striking a huge new deal with China. That diminished the price of U.S. soybeans and weakened U.S. trade leverage with China, which immediately pulled out of its existing arrangements with soybean farmers in America’s heartland.

Waiting to hear MAGA spin this as “Good for the USA” as Republican soybean farmers in the US prepare to lose everything thanks to Trump.

Wow this is actually really bad. We lost around 40% of our soybean exports since the last tariff war and closed a lot of farms, this is going to spell the end of the survivors, most of whom probably voted Trump ironically.

Of course the White House got played. Trump thinks he can bully people into what he wants. Unfortunately, he is dealing with smarter people that don’t need him.

Well it turns out that if you spend years dicking around your customers then they will take their business elsewhere.

Maybe a dude with dozens of scam product lines wasn’t the best pick to “run America like a business.” 🤔

The Orange One most likely doesn’t know what soybeans are, therefore won’t give a shit

There’s an episode of Columbo from the 70’s wherein a character makes a joke about how reliable the soybean sales to China are in relation to some really chaotic event that happened for that case….I’ve been thinking about that scene a lot this week.

Ok admittedly I haven’t read up on a lot about this but I still do not understand why we are bailing out Argentina. Like what’s the incentive for Trump to give them a bunch of free cash like this?

I’m sure that US farmers will love this. Between this, tariffs, and the elimination of USAID, one of its major functions was to buy US agricultural products to be provided as food aid – the Trump administration has really fucked over farmers.

These farmers got fucked during trumps first term and got bailed out. Instead of learning from that, they kept doing the same and shockingly voted for trump again. Now they’ll get another handout, learn nothing, and vote for trump again because other people getting the same help is communism

  10. American farmers are not selling their soybeans because of Trumps idiotic trade war. Had China not bought them from Argentina they would have just bought more from Brasil, or anywhere else, other than the US.

  11. Did the administration really “get played”?
I think that gives too little agency to the Trump admin.

Trump doesn’t give a shit about Americans, he only cares about himself.
Milei cupped Trumps nuts and told him how great he was and how similar his economic ideas were, so Trump is helping him.

Trump probably isn’t even aware about any of this stuff with soybeans, and wouldn’t care if someone tried to explain.

  12. Quite Frankly no partially competent person would have put the country in this position in the first place

    >“I know the best people. I know the best managers. I know the best dealmakers. I know people who will make us so strong. I know guys that are so good.”

President Donald J Trump, June 2015

  14. Seems like a bad idea for Argentina to fuck around with the US and specifically this administration that is actively looking for a war.

  15. OPM. Other people’s money. Trumps mantra since art of the deal.
    Deny
    Deny
    Deny-Roy cohn taught him that.

He takes all our money and will not admit to shit storm of unpaid bills and a zero bank account

America is the “Atlantic City” of North america. Thanks DTJ

  16. I haven’t seen anything to support Congress authorizing 20 billion for Argentina. In addition, the fact that there’s an effort to bail out Argentina (which has universal health care) with our tax dollars that are prevented from giving us universal health care shouldn’t be lost on anyone, especially American Farmers who are about to lose their customers in China for good.

They’ll need bail outs forever due to Trump’s handy work.
