Over 40 percent of Americans, an all-time high, say the U.S. Supreme Court is “too conservative,” according to a new Gallup poll released on Wednesday.
The Court currently has a 6-3 conservative majority and has ruled in favor of the Trump administration on many key issues, including immigration enforcement and cuts at federal government agencies. Over a dozen emergency requests from the Trump administration have been granted by the Court this term.
Despite the Supreme Court’s 6-3 conservative majority, the justices ruled unanimously in 42 percent of cases decided last term. In 2023, they ruled unanimously in 44 percent of cases, and in 2022, the rate was 50 percent.
The number of Trump’s pet issues hitting the shadow docket seems awfully high, as well.

I’d say too corrupt but that’s basically the same as conservative

The depressing thing is that any new Trump appointed judges could still be there in the year 2060 (we’re seeing Ragan judges still on a bench 40 years later)

Given the fact that the majority of judges were appointed by presidents who did not win the popular vote and confirmed by a senate that does not give equal representation of the people, this is not a surprise.

Record amount is ~40%. Jesus wept. And 17% of the remainder believe it is too liberal.

I don’t think there’s anything conservative about the modern Supreme Court. I think there’s a lot that’s authoritarian about the modern Supreme Court. I think there’s some elements of the modern Supreme Court that are flirting with fascism, but there’s certainly nothing conservative.

The constitution is our king while the SC is the modern day kings guard. It’s a very important institution, and given the polarization of US politics, it’s beginning to become a matter of national security that we expand the court.
We have ~350,000,000 people, and nine of these people are guarding the king. Influencing 9 people is much easier than 20, so the SC must be expanded to guard against hyper partisan periods of US history.
It seems logical to me, so whoever runs in ’28 gets bonus primary consideration from me if they run on expanding the court.
