A Washington Post poll conducted on the first day of the shutdown found that 47 per cent of adults in the US blame Trump and Republicans in Congress for the closure, while 30 per cent blame the Democrats. However, the remaining 23 per cent said they are not sure which side is most at fault.

Among independent voters specifically, Trump and Republicans were blamed by 51 per cent and the Democrats by just 22 per cent, the poll found.

Nearly one-in-ten Republicans (8 per cent) blamed their own party for the shutdown, while one quarter (25 per dent) were unsure of who to blame.

  2. I haven’t heard a good “Hunter Biden’s laptop” excuse In a while now…. I like the new material but sometimes you wanna hear the classics you know?

  3. Nope. The republicans have stated the shutdown is the democrats fault. That is now the defacto truth and no amount of facts will convince the moronic trumpers of anything else – not even when it bites them in the ass.

You mean the party that is in virtual absolute power and can literally do anything they want and are currently ruling by fiat? I’m still not putting money on a collective public too stupid to know what a tariff is, but all along I’ve been saying that’s the thing: Republicans can get away with a lot, and they will, but there is gonna be a point where the reality they sell just will not compute with everyone. While Fox News may have been the most popular news channel, that propaganda machine probably only works on 40% of the population at max.

Anyways, it’s gonna get worse, we’re gonna have the American military bayonetting abuelas in the street so Stephen Miller can even use the 14 year old his boss gave him, and the only way the public will know is this nonsense is gonna still make one egg cost $5.

Why don’t democrats do a better job of claiming they just want to keep the status quo. The shutdown is about the republicans desire to cut subsidies.

Over the last 10 years the Rs made themselves the party of government shutdowns. This is their tactic.

  7. I hear democrats need to do something like it’s (only) on them that republicans have the presidency, and all their seats in government. Dems do one of the only options available to them, and folks blame them again. The even more fucked up part is this lines up with Trumps attitude. If it goes well, Trump did that, if it did not, that was someone else (almost always a democrat). I’m not American, but worked there for a couple of years in 90’s, and it’s like a large swath of the American population have been brainwashed and/or many people there are a lot dumber than I remember

I believe they(Trump administration/GOP)will keep it shut down, while they terrorize American blue cities, and incite civil war. So they can call Martial Law. All to protect from Epstein files vote, and 2026 election proceedings.

  9. The fact that Republicans do a shut down and then sit back and wait to see who will be blamed more for said shut down is evidence of how fucking pathetically juvenile MAGA is. Seriously just a fucking clown show 24/7 with these losers.

  10. They control both houses, SCOTUS, and the White House.

No surprise at all that they’re being blamed.
