I’ve always wondered when articles like this talk about politicians “facing heat” or “feeling the pressure” and ultimately “caving to the pressure” what exactly do they mean? Politicians are largely despised by both sides of the aisle. To be in that profession you must always get threats and “pressure”. I’ve always felt like that wording is just hyperbole. These guys make calculated decisions when to negotiate/cave and it probably comes after a phone call from a big donor. It can’t be as stressful as the media makes it out to be.
