It turns out Donald Trump didn’t mean to make that Truth Social post public after all.

    >On Wednesday evening, The Wall Street Journal revealed a striking detail about the president’s September 20 Truth Social post ordering Attorney General Pam Bondi to make haste in prosecuting Comey and other MAGA enemies, i.e., Senator Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

    >As many suspected, that message was actually meant to be sent privately to the attorney general.

    >…

    >As former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki following the revelation, this could pose “a big problem, legally and substantively” for Trump and the DOJ, giving Comey and the others mentioned in the message “viable motions to dismiss indictments.”

    >Comey’s attorney is reportedly looking to dismiss the case for “vindictive prosecution.” His trial is set for January, but before that, he can file a request to dismiss charges, on the ground that they were brought due to animus rather than legitimate legal reasons. As CNN’s Aaron Blake noted, if the Journal’s reporting is accurate, “it’s not inconceivable that an errant DM from Trump could be a big reason why Comey’s case is dismissed for vindictive prosecution.”

it doesn’t matter. He’s already punished Comey. He’ll have to spend tens of thousands on lawyers before this is over.

This isn’t just about Comey. It’s a message to anyone who he targets – I will bankrupt you if I want. I will punish you. I will ruin you. And it doesn’t matter if I win or lose in court. You WILL pay.

  3. *Thanks for not actually including what he said, New Republic!*

Here’s the message that he posted ([source](https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/trump-publicly-pressures-pam-bondi-to-charge-his-political-enemies-in-stunning-truth-social-post-we-cant-delay-any-longer/)):

    > Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.’ Then we almost put in a Democrat supported U.S. Attorney, in Virginia, with a really bad Republican past. A Woke RINO, who was never going to do his job. That’s why two of the worst Dem Senators PUSHED him so hard. He even lied to the media and said he quit, and that we had no case. No, I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many lawyers, and legal pundits, say so. Lindsey Halligan is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot. We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT

  4. Get fucked with this headline. There is no case.

That’s why they couldn’t find a prosecutor to sign off on it and they had to promote Trump’s former personal lawyer.

Aside from the obvious fact that this is clearly politically motivated where Trump just wants to punish anyone he doesn’t like.

Why on earth would you write this article and not include the actual truth social post?

  6. This case was already dead and will be used as evidence by anyone else that’s attacked by Trump and prosecuted as revenge.

  7. There was no legitimacy to the case to begin with. It was clearly a vindictive prosecution.

  8. I’m done with any news stories that contain hypothetical situations. It’s just clickbait and it makes up the majority of the news cycle.

    “This bombshell COULD do this”

It either does or it doesn’t. And with Trump’s shenanigans, most of the time it doesn’t.

If there was a way to just block any content like this, I would. It’s all part of the firehose.

  9. Why in the sideways fuck is he dictating prosecutorial direction to the AG through the DMs of a private social media application? Is that not a MASSIVE national security concern? buttery_males.jiff

  10. I think we also should be slightly concerned that he is likely sending confidential information in DMs of truth social.. good god we are fucked

    > Donald Trump’s reckless social media use could imperil his administration’s already flimsy case

You mean, it provides evidence he’s breaking the law. Seen by millions.

Seriously. Don’t understate it like “oh his case might not succeed”.

How long before a post like “The Mainstream Media losers have published my private messages! Biggest betrayal of trust, I will be sueing them and stripping their publishing privileges!”

  13. Well, there is no Comey case, so yeah. That said, it would be nice if he got some comeuppance for basically handing trump the election in 2016, but comeuppance should never, ever come from trump. Nobody is more deserving of receiving comeuppance than trump. Sadly we’ll never get to see it.

  14. How is someone that can’t figure out secure communications legally mentally fit to be president? Great, this time the leak just hurts him. But what about when it hurts others.
