  1. One of the four bodies handed over by Hamas does not match any of the hostages who were captured on Oct 7, Israel has said.

Three of the four bodies released on Tuesday were identified as Ouriel Baruch, Eitan Levy and Tamir Nimrodi.

The identity of the fourth body has not been confirmed but reports in Israeli media suggested that it may have been that of a Gaza resident, which authorities have not confirmed.

In February, Hamas also handed over the wrong body when it returned the remains of infant Kfir Bibas and his four-year-old brother Ariel. A third body was supposed to be Shiri, their mother, but it did not match with any hostage.

The Palestinian terror group released all 20 of the living hostages on Monday but has so far handed over the remains of seven hostages, plus the one unidentified individual.

Officials have warned it could take months or even years for Hamas to locate the remaining hostages, which they say are buried beneath Gaza’s rubble.

In response to Hamas handing over the most recent bodies, Israel will allow humanitarian aid to flow through Gaza’s Rafah crossing on Wednesday.

The United Nations and other international organisations will send 600 trucks of aid through the crossing, which had been closed, according to Israel’s public broadcaster Kan.
