  1. They’re already in disarray, regardless of their reaction to this protest. That’s just how things go when Trump is your party leader and standard-bearer.

I’m genuinely concerned that MAGA are going to go back to their tried-and-true tactics of violence against protestors because they can’t handle their fee-fees or criticism for their dear leader. I predict a ridiculous and unnecessary as ever ICE presence, more masked men in vans causing chaos, and at least one MAGA domestic terrorist trying to drive their car into a crowd.

  3. Rock-n-roll-Kevin on

Scott Bessent went on Fox News and rolled out the new MAGA “slogan”:

    “No Kings equals no paychecks”

We should be thanking the think tank that developed this for them. What a gift.

  4. I am waiting to see how MAGA denounces Thomas Paine’s Common Sense.

    – “Because a body of men, holding themselves accountable
to nobody, ought not to be trusted by anybody.”

  5. “No Kings” is antithetical to conservatism, as the *sole* value of conservatism is respect for and obedience to [one’s perception of] traditionally established hierarchy, and hierarchy dictates that those on top (in-groups) are rightfully idolized and receive privileges, credibility, and resources, while those on the bottom (out-groups) are demonized/dehumanized and/or bound by restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources.

To them, the second-greatest injustice imaginable is for those [they perceive to be] on the bottom [of social hierarchy] to have access to the rights, credibility, and resources reserved for those on top. The first greatest injustice is for those on top to be bound by the restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources reserved for those on the bottom.

[Conservatism](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conservatism) — by definition — is “a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, **stressing the importance of established hierarchies and institutions** (such as religion, the family, **and class structure**), and preferring gradual development to abrupt change”.

Likewise, from [Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy](https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/conservatism/):

    >Rational conservatives maintain that a community with a **hierarchy of authority is most conducive to human well-being**.

    >Confucius is another possible precursor. His concern with the breakdown of contemporary political institutions led to a cautious, conservative political outlook; **his stress on authority and hierarchy prefigures central conservative themes**.

    >With the Enlightenment, the natural order or **social hierarchy, previously largely accepted, was questioned**.

Western conservatism is a product from the Age of Enlightenment — specifically, a [Counter-Enlightenment](https://assets.press.princeton.edu/chapters/i7705.pdf), [a reactionary challenge to the concepts of Humanism](https://engelsbergideas.com/essays/counter-enlightenment/). Its philosophers inherently *reject[ed]* a society governed by logic and reason, human rights and dignity, science and democracy, as its ideology *solely appeal* to the authority of traditionally established hierarchies.

From the [Intellectual Roots of Conservatism: The Burkean Foundations](https://www.britannica.com/topic/conservatism/Intellectual-roots-of-conservatism), the man who is considered to be the founder of modern day Western conservatism had such to say about his ideology:

    >Burke shocked his contemporaries by insisting with brutal frankness that **“illusions” and “prejudices” are socially necessary**. He believed that most **human beings are innately depraved, steeped in original sin, and unable to better themselves with their feeble reason**. Better, he said, to rely on the “latent wisdom” of prejudice, which accumulates slowly through the years, than to “put men to live and trade each on his own private stock of reason.” **Among such prejudices are those that favour an established church and a landed aristocracy**; members of the latter, according to Burke, are the “great oaks” and “proper chieftains” of society, provided that they temper their rule with a spirit of timely reform and remain within the constitutional framework.

Conservatism is not just a symptom — but *the worldview* — of those who believe *some people are “more/less” people than others*, as hierarchy isn’t just vital to conservatism, it is the foundation of such.

“Know your place” is their mantra.

it’s going to be crazy when they try to label 100s of thousands of people Antifa like your grandma lol

  7. Umm I didn’t even know this was going to happen. We are far from “disarray”. Matter of fact I think we feel as strong as ever. I live in California too, where Newsom wants to disenfranchise the political minority so he can stick it to Texas. Yeah this is just yellow journalism at its finest and people are eating it up. Got to find a way to cope I suppose.

  8. Marvin_Frommars on

They’re going to have to update their history books and paint the Boston Tea Party as anti-American.

  9. “No Kings” is a complete joke. Republicans aren’t in *that* much of a disarray. How are they in disarray when they are controlling the House, Senate, and Supreme Court, have the most popular social media influencers, are allied with the richest man in the world, abusing their power with the federal agents and military, wiping their butt with the U.S. Constitution, implementing Project 2025 in real time, actually doing everything they promised, and still have a ton of support? The worst part is that the majority of people that actually voted in the United States actually *chose* this. This isn’t something that happened because we got conquered and were forced into a regime. Americans literally had the easiest choice at the voting booth, and they willingly *chose* this. The Republicans and ultraconservatives finally have the power that they always wanted, and they are pushing for even stronger white supremacy. Let’s not pretend that these friendly little gatherings will directly challenge the white supremacy plaguing this nation right now. Even the Republicans know it. The performative white liberals planning to attend these No Kings festivals aren’t serious at all by any means. It’s all just a big meme to most of them. We’d probably see more people playing around in costumes again while the Trump regime abuses its power.

  10. Elon_is_a_Nazi on

Of course they hate people exercising their constitutional rights. The Republican Terrorist and Pedophile Party of America hates our constitution and basic American rights.

  11. I wish. But they’re not “in disarray.” They’re consolidating more fascist power everyday and this country is facing an existential crisis.

  12. What_About_What on

If you’re going, please consider bringing American flags to fly. Bring your posters as well, but if we have a crowd of American flag waving people with anti Trump signs it’s going to be far harder for them to call the gathering unpatriotic. We need to take back the flag and use it to show we’re not anti American like they’re trying to label everyone that doesn’t agree with them.

  13. In fairness, millionaire professional football players kneeling had Republicans in Disarray. They fear peaceful protests. They characterize freedom of expression they disagree with as unpatriotic, and encourage insurrection when it suits them.

I would love to see colorful, playful, inflatable frogs, hippos, dinosaurs, unicorns, sharks, and axolotls everywhere this weekend. Amazon suddenly had a rush on these like a week ago, so I’m hoping it happens. I want to see the entire country getting weird like Portland did and highlighting the absurdity of Trump’s bullshit.

  15. Competitive-Ad-9404 on

Fox News will be talking about the No Kings protests while showing videos of soccer hooligan clashes with police from 10 years ago.

  16. Just to keep score here, MAGA is anti-antifascist, and now they’re saying “no” to the idea of “no kings”. Unless double negatives have suddenly changed…

  17. I’m not trying to argue with you that’s the issue. I’m trying to see where you are coming from and from what I can gather you are not happy with the way people are speaking up. Understood.

  18. Ngl, the Republicans seem pretty lock step in order organized, not in disarray and this is part of their strategy to broadly denounce these protests.

  19. Most people don’t even know there’s a protest, or care.

The Republicans know but understand that it poses absolutely no threat to them.

Everything is fine, and going exactly according to plan. We will be at war soon.

  20. Icy_Struggle_7291 on

republicans stand for complete control over our lives our bodies and our minds. they are all up trumps rectum .

we the people are tired of sycophants handing over control of our democracy and completely abandoning their responsibilities to check and balance power to a wannabe king .

we are making sure we are heard by all in our representative government . every congressperson represents the constituents in their districts we want to make sure they hear us loud and clear !

  21. chessandspoonmaker on

this will be a bloodless revoultution so as the left allows it be..

    hertiage foundation

  22. Keeping in mind what’s going on in other countries right now, of course this authoritarian administration is scared. The only thing stopping many on the Right from joining is the decades of Fox and other hate news demonizing the Left. Real America is against what Trump is doing.

  23. IrrelevantLeprechaun on

No they’re not. They literally have everything they could have ever wanted. They’re only pushing terrorist rhetoric against protestors and the Left because they want *more*. But they are by no means in disarray.

These headlines are promoting a false narrative that MAGA is failing because said narrative convinces people that things are self correcting on their own and don’t require any intervention from the populace. It keeps them complacent and sitting at home

  24. Trump is elected. He won the popular vote and the electoral college. He is not even close to being a king.

  25. And thus we live in a day when the people who consider themselves the most patriotic Americans are up in arms because the rest of us don’t want to live in a monarchy. History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

  26. Peaceful protest is one of the most American things you can do. In dictatorships it’s not allowed.

  27. Been alive since the 80’s haven’t seen a protest do a damn thing in my lifetime except increase authoritarianism and police spending. Don’t get me wrong I still go when i can but man… each and every time I leave disheartened and feeling like we’ve accomplished nothing.

How exactly does this have them in disarray?

Fake Edit: I love seeing Thomas Paine quotes. More of that please.

  28. Being against having a king is something I think most Republicans will come around to. Not sure what bad shit will happen before that happens though.
