Blame the Escalating Gerrymander Wars on Chief Justice John Roberts – Nobody has done more damage to US democracy and voting rights in the 21st Century than this one despicable jurist.

False.
McConnel did more by stealing two seats.

Roberts certainly has let Americans down. History will show this but it’s cold comfort.

Roberts and Alito were both nominated by George W. Bush.
The Democratic leadership seems to think that parading around with Bush-era Republicans is the way to win. A lot millennial Democrats (probably most) support the Democratic party ***because*** we hate the Bush era Republicans.

The problem lies deeper. Everything in America is seen thru the lens of Party Politics. There is no such thing as a judge chosen for judicial skills – the judge is appointed because of their political allegiance. Strange as it seems, their decisions represent their political bias.
Rather than being a form of governance, being in government the USA is comparable to being the winning football team.

But you know, he said the Court only calls “balls and strikes.”
Thank you for voting Bush over Gore and then even reelecting him, over both his opponents stating this is the kind of justice he would put on the court. Every election has consequences.

Gerrymandering is extremely caustic to democracy. It forces parties to move to the extremes. If the seat is safe in the general, it moves the real election to the primary, and in the primaries, whoever can outdo the other is selected.
There is a solution to gerrymandering. Well, two things actually. First we need universal independent redistricting commissions. The 2nd layer is mixed member proportional representation. Double the size of congress with half the seats being local seats representing a district, and the other half being statewide at-large seats. When you vote for a candidate you can also vote for a party for statewide seats. Every party would have a slate of candidates selected in the primaries. Statewide seats would be awarded based on the percentage of vote received and the number of seats won in the local elections. So for example, if party A gets 6 out of 10 seats in the local but only has 50% of the vote, the statewide seats would be awarded to that party until they had 50% of the total seats. Then the next party until there are no seats left to cover a percentage.
This would also work better if the minimum number of seats a state had was 3.

I blame him for so much.
W knew exactly who he was picking in Roberts, a man who would perform mental gymnastics to forward conservative policies which most Americans loathe.
John Roberts the antithesis of Earl Warren.

If the democrats get into power, they need to immediately stack the supreme court, and then start hunting down collaborators immediately.

The things that should be done to the “honorable” Judge John Roberts and all of his ilk who have thrown away the American people like garbage to line their own pockets can’t be discussed on this website because the CEOs he takes his marching orders from also own every single communication platform including this one. Imagine that.
