  1. A bit from the commentary:

    > But what undermines this new, Nobel-ready look of Trump’s is not only the absurd braggadocio, or even the confusion of the style and optics of peacemaking for the substance and hard graft it requires. It is the fact that he is fomenting war at home on his own citizens. I am not speaking metaphorically. Increasingly, serious analysts not prone to hyperbole are warning that Trump seems bent on provoking a second American civil war. The evidence is piling up.
    >
    > The most obvious is Trump’s deployment of US troops on the streets of America’s cities. He claims that his original decisions to send in the National Guard to Los Angeles, Washington DC, Chicago, Portland and Memphis were motivated solely by concern over crime. In his telling, these places were “overrun” by violence and local police needed his help. But that doesn’t stack up.
    >
    > The data shows that most of the cities Trump has targeted have lower rates of violent crime than other large cities that have remained untouched. (Of the 10 major US cities with the biggest crime problems, Trump has hit only one: Memphis.)
    >
    > . . .
    >
    > or what the likes of Chicago, LA and Portland have in common is not imagined rates of runaway crime but something that angers Trump much more: they are Democrat-run cities in Democrat-led states. (The giveaway is that Cleveland, Ohio and Kansas City, Missouri have higher rates of violent crime but are under Republican governors. So they have been left alone.)

    > This is a political act by Trump, designed to intimidate potential strongholds of opposition.

He’s also a pedophile and a convicted rapist. I don’t know of any Nobel prize winners with that background either.

  3. I would argue that if Trump claims he is something, then more than likely, he is the opposite.

No peace prize for people who are sending goon squads after mothers and children.

  5. There’s a 1980s movie where some alien guy roams around a city killing everyone he meets, and the alien’s catchphrase and the title of the movie were both “I come in peace.”

  6. > Donald Trump claims

always; stop there. Just like 90% of readers will.

    Go for a walk.

    Start again.

He is punishing ‘sanctuary cities’ and I don’t think that’s ’fomenting civil war’ when you really look at it critically. Their targets are non-citizens, and these efforts have been short lived. The Don will get distracted and move on soon, as he always does. The furor over DC police has died down, the rest will follow suit soon

Let me tell you, government workers are more scared to lose their jobs than call this out.

Most of our country will watch us as we go down the drain.

    They’re scared.

  9. Remember when he claimed the Epstein files were a hoax? Trump’s claims are as legit as his presidency

Could it be that The Donald is trying to escalate some kind of confrontation by the midterms so he can cancel them under the guise of a National Emergency?!
BTW, outside of the Lone Ranger, and characters like Superman and Batman, masked men (and women) are usually the bad guys. Ie. KKK, bandits, bank robbers, etc.

  11. Donald Trump began waging war on America when he misled his gullible supporters with a conspiracy that was easily proven false, and commanded his horde of morons to attack and ransack the US Capitol.

Republicans did not do anything in response to Trump’s opening salvo back in 2021, because they think they are going to get away with everything

The first half of this headline is completely unnecessary and just platforms their propaganda.
