I am becoming more convinced that Republicans want the shutdown so that they can convince Trump to allocate his own budget without approval from Congress.
This is completely against the ‘Congress controls the purse strings’ written in the Constitution, but I think that is the plan.
So it won’t happen because republicans have their heads up their ass like always

I suspect they’re holding out until after November 4th. PA hasn’t had a budget passed in over 100 days, we’ve got a Democratic governor and a Republican Senate refusing to pass the House’s bill. The state treasurer, who’s campaigning for governor as a Republican, is handing out interest-free loans during the shutdown, which really feels like a campaign move. I wouldn’t be surprised if the White House is watching to see how Pennsylvania votes.

Attack Republican positions that lead to bad outcomes, including deletions of healthcare for families, the damage of tariffs, and tragically high prices at the grocery store. Talk about military family going to food banks. Talk about actually injuries to working and middle class families.
Call out the eugenics experiment in Kennedy’s HHS, as they stop mandating proven vaccines.
The Republicans want this shutdown. They get to use it to gut the government even more while blaming it on the democrats. Its a win for them the longer this goes on.

Don’t get your hopes up. Its like they hate tourism as well. Im canadian and I was barely willing to go down to the usa for a road trip, but now with the shut down I’ve returned to canada and am re visiting our national parks again.

Trump really thinks of himself as this ultimate deal maker but he’s always been fucking terrible at it. This is exactly what he did, time and time again. He doesn’t know how to negotiate with someone who has leverage over him, he’s either getting everything he wants or giving someone else everything they want.
Unfortunately he seems to think he has leverage over every single politician and citizen in the country, so he’s fucking us over and giving places like Qatar everything they want.
Yea they won’t, they want this. The only way the gov opens back up is if democrats loose their spine and capitulate to the republicans draconian demands, and honestly, they should never do that, even if it cost the entire economy and government failing and dying.

It has nothing to do with them not wanting to negotiate, this is about protecting kid-fuckers, plain and simple.
The smokescreen of government spending and healthcare disagreements have been serving them well over the last month… But this all boils down to the thousands of hours of video tapes of powerful people molesting children and the chickenshits that are either on the tapes themselves or afraid of the ones who are. (Trump is definitely on them)
Republicans dont need any Democrat votes. Not one. They have the majority. They will end the shut down after the aca premiums are updated.
