Sorry, but cognitive decline suggests there was cognition to begin with, instead of the ball of loose yarn, rubberbands, glitter, and paperclips that make up the president’s brain.

  2. I hate to both sides this, but remember Dianne Feinstein?  She was obviously in decline during her final term that she ultimately died in, she should have been removed long before that.

  3. Practicalistist on

It wouldn’t be disqualifying for Joe Biden, evidently. Congress is never going to agree on this no matter how bad it gets.

  4. Redshirt_Welshy_Nooo on

Why would Republicans ever remove him? He is grover norquist’s perfect idiot with a pen. He is completely and totally self-interested, lacking the capacity to, or interest in, understanding anything beyond his own self-enrichment and aggrandizement.

He’s maybe the easiest person on the entire planet to manipulate, especially now with his rapidly accelerating dementia. They can slap literally any EO, bill, bailout for a foreign country, proclamation, etc down in front of him and he’ll sign it as long as he’s being flattered or told he’s hurting his enemies.

    He’s the perfect Republican.

Yes, who among his Pavlovian Dogs will start the process? The Vice President and the Cabinet must start the process. And Agent Orange a.k.a. TACO, will not go quietly, so even if the VP and Cabinet started the process, it would end up in the Republican (mis)-led Congress where it would most assuredly fail!

    So, this is a non-starter!

  6. The last smart thing Trump did (Or Daddy Vladdy told him to do) was to surround himself with sycophants so nobody would be willing to pull the trigger on the 25th Amendment.

He’s much more useful as an easily pliable puppet. Especially with Stephen Wormtongue Miller around.

  7. tacticalcraptical on

His cognitive decline is only one of the MANY things that would be disqualifying to any other politician.

  8. The 25th will never be used in this way. Him being checked out and pliable is a boon to his cabinet who has no interest whatsoever in protecting America.

  9. PirateCodingMonkey on

too bad it won’t happen. even if he was on a ventilator and semiconscious, no one would start the process. he has too many sycophants around him. plus the couch fucker VP wouldn’t control the party like TACO does

  10. He’s destroyed the Republican Party, shredded the Constitution, and now he’s tearing down the White House….and no one is stopping him.

  11. What’s the point of even discussing this? It’s not like his admin is full of people with good and earnest intent who are waiting for an opportunity to invoke the 25th. There is 0% chance of it happening, period. Even discussing it is a distraction.

Vote blue, get the Dems a majority, then maybe we look at impeachment. They’re not going to police their own. They’re happy as long as they’re in power, and him having diminished capacity is a feature, not a bug.

  12. Here’s your daily reminder to actually read the 25th and understand why it’s not going to help in this scenario:

It’s not a “soft coup” provision if the president is being crazy, it’s literally for transferring power from a president who is alive but unconscious.

If the president contests the disability then they get their power back and the decision goes up to Congress just like an impeachment would, except the bar for removal under the 25th is even higher than impeachment.

The only way this actually works like people are hoping is if Trump’s cabinet decided he was no longer fit for office and Trump’s response was “yeah, you’re right, I’ll step aside”. Come on, does anyone seriously think that’s going to happen?

  13. ImLikeReallySmart on

Stop dreaming of the 25th and push for impeachment instead. As unlikely as that is, this is still way more of a fantasy. This notion that the 25th is some instant cleanup has to stop, it would be way more difficult and chaotic.

  14. They’re not going to get rid of their golden boy. Vance doesn’t have the charisma or cultural weight to do jack shit even with this administration leaning so heavily republican.

  15. PeopleB4Profit on

Removing trump is only an INCONVIENENCE to Project 2025 Cabal financing Project 2025, deploying American Troops against Americans (cuz they live in blue areas), shutting down our democracy, steeling from our treasury all because they have too much and that is not enough!

talk trump all ya want, but FAMILIES behind Project 2025 (paying for everything), heritage foundation….. and others that will not be accountable by an unjust/corrupt judicial system bought and paid for by these traitors. If they are not stopped, the next time will be worse.

Everything Republicans complained about with Biden, and why he wasn’t fit for president, applies to The Fanta Führer, in many cases it’s also more extreme than anything Biden showed.

They didn’t care, they just didn’t have an actual excuse against Biden’s policies so they attacked his character, and things he couldn’t change, like his stutter.

I hope they keep trotting him out as he becomes more aggressive,  agitated,  racist, and gives us bursts of profanity laced confusion,  the n word, and explosive diapers and falling. I hope it’s all on camera and can replayed over and over in the now and for future generations.

  18. Trump being a moron and/or having minor cognitive issues probably doesn’t constitute a 25th amendment issue. Impeachment is the better way to remove him although obviously that isn’t going to happen either.

  19. Have you seen Mitch McConnell lately? I don’t even think a flat line ekg would be enough to convince the GOP

  20. It’s so weird as a non-American, seeing these articles from the US where I guess people still think you live in some kind of democracy?

  21. Novel_Quote8017 on

Let’s be real here for a moment: It would not disqualify any other politician. In that matter, and almost only that matter, Trump is given as much leeway as the rest of the politicians from his cohort.

  22. He makes the wrong decision with every choice. With the government shutdown, he actually plays with toys (those AI videos).

  23. Persea_americana on

Impeach for treason and remove Vance and the civil officers as well. These people have looted America, subverted the constitution and the rule of law and sold us out to Billionaires and Russia.

  24. Vance and a majority of the cabinet would have to agree to invoke the 25th. That will never happen. Dingus could sit there chewing his own fingers off and they will not invoke.

  25. Past time.. HOWEVER.. Trump is the dementia riddled figurehead of a larger American cancer.. He cannot do anything without the full support of the Republican party. To think he has the mental acuity to be any kind of mastermind is ludicrous. He’s100% disposable and replaceable…
    Imho

  26. Careful-Rent5779 on

Sorry, as deranged as Dementia DonOld might be. His cadre of circus clowns would never even consider such action

  27. I’m pretty sure the only thing that would change with Vance in charge instead is you wouldn’t get the goofy social media posts.

  28. These articles are hyperbolic. He’s many things, but unstrategic is not one: first move was to ensure leverage that he couldn’t be removed. THEN do horrendous shit that would normally have you removed. In all honesty I cannot imagine a situation where this cabinet would invoke 25th other than a stroke or other incapacity.

  29. Yes but whos going to do it? Who is going to vote for it? Congress and SC are all in trumps pocket
