    > all of those things are going to be gone because the whole country would be bankrupt…

Republicans control all three branches and they’re threatening that the entire country will go bankrupt on their watch.

    Someone has Presidementia.

  2. Seems like political suicide but I guess nothing else that was supposed to be political suicide did that to him.

It’s still kind of weird, if he wants to be a king so bad then why is he attacking the big three like this?

  3. In 2024 Trump promised that he’d cut electric bills in half within a year, but instead, prices are rising. There is no clever spin or blame-shifting that can convince most people their energy costs have gone down when their monthly bills are going up.

    Yoo, hoo…MAGA…are you home?

I was told today by my Trumper sister in law today that she’s terrified she’s going to lose her healthcare and food stamps…

But she would still vote for Trump because she’s saving the lives of unborn babies. I… can’t even begin to imagine how dumb you must be to elect someone who’s a child rapist, making you broke and homeless just so you can deny women the right to choose what to do with their bodies.

Was there some Harry Potter curse that prevents MAGA from seeing all this and keeps them thinking “Yep! This is how America should be going! Nazi’s and all!”.

  5. Goalpost has been moved from: We won’t touch it.

    To: We are cutting it.

To: We are getting rid of it.

And somehow, blaming democrats, while bailing out other countries, giving enormous tax breaks to the ultra wealthy, and funding vanity projects.

    Wake up.

Every time they told you that your taxes were going to waste they meant they were trying to waste your taxes… while RAISING YOUR taxes.

the plan started long before project 2025. one of the main goals of the moral majority crowd has been to eliminate all entitlement programs. all of them. programs that we pay for. so they can yet again steal our money, and have stories to tell their rich friends. they also think unemployment should hover around 10% – 20%. if you dont believe me read the project 2025 manifesto and see what you come up with.

  7. RoosterMedical on

This is part of Project 2025 so believe Trump when he says things like this, and shouldn’t, but his brain is cream of wheat.

  8. Trump and his cronies just want to get rid of social security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and are obviously simply looking for a way to do this and “blame the democrats” despite it not being at all related to the shutdown and at a time they control all three branches of government.

  9. Straight-Ad6926 on

Trump’s budget proposals have consistently included cuts to these programs. Meanwhile he’s proposing more tax cuts for the wealthy. Coincidence?

As someone who is disabled and just got approved for SSDI, this is terrifying. I have chronic PTSD and this just sent me into a spiral.

  11. This is effectively leaping onto the third rail. The problem is, that suggests that he either really stupid, or he knows something we don’t, namely that there won’t be a legitimate election to punish him over this.

  12. HandsLikePaper on

Donald Trump is out here telling people they’ll lose their social security (which we’ve been paying into), meanwhile Argentina receives $40 Billion, and Trump is getting a ballroom and a billion dollar jet.

  13. I’m sure the true believers will find a way to spin losing their social benefits. And for sure they will keep voting for this. Over and over.

“Trump threatens to terminate Social Security and Medicare if Democrats don’t capitulate to end healthcare accessibility for all”

    Fixed the title.

  15. Republicans control all of Congress, the House and Senate. Republicans control the White House with the most corrupt president in history. Republicans control the Supreme Court. Republicans control everything with unchecked power. They are breaking laws, violating judicial rulings, and basically doing whatever they want. And they expect the American people to believe that Democrats are somehow blocking them from doing something?

This shutdown is completely owned by the Republicans!

  16. Republicans would never win an election if they told the truth about what their platform is.

  17. ThreadCountHigh on

Fine, end Social Security. But they had better pay back everyone who has been contributing to it with every paycheck, plus interest. Though that would mean a huge windfall for employers who have been matching the 6% that comes out of an employee’s pay, too. The lawsuits to get that to the employees would be epic and never ending.

I wonder what my Trump-sucking father will say when his beloved Yam Tits takes his social security check and medicare…

  19. I swore I heard all the mouth pieces say they weren’t touching these things. Huh, I guess once you get into power and rig the elections it doesn’t matter what you do.

  20. So I get crazy without my psychiatric medication

But on the bright side I also won’t be able to breathe without my asthma medication

  21. The_World_Is_A_Slum on

OK. I’ve been paying into Social Security since my first job when I was 14. Is all of that money just gone, or is someone going to stroke me a check for all of the money I paid to fund someone else’s retirement?

That’s my fucking money. That’s my fucking retirement. That’s my health care in old age. They took away pensions, they took away all sorts of social services. They keep taking from us and keep charging us more and more, while cheating their way out of paying their share.

Party there won’t stfu about how Christian they are…wants to take away healthcare from 16 percent often population.

    What would Jesus do?

“As of late 2024, Social Security provided monthly benefits to about 53 million Americans—nearly 16 percent of the U.S. population. Medicare and Medicaid similarly underpin health insurance availability for seniors, low-income people, and many vulnerable groups.”

  23. In the article Trump says “they’re going to lose social security, Medicaid” as if it’s just Democrats who need those things.

  24. basketballsteven on

Well if that’s true seniors are going to go hungry and starve but also die from lack of medications and rural hospital closures especially in red states. But OH well….. the white house will have a ball room so it will all be worth it.

  25. Irwin-M_Fletcher on

Why doesn’t the press call out Trump when he says stupid shit like this? Those are all non discretionary. They will be paid during a shutdown. The only reason they would be gone is because Russel Vought and Trump will try to shut them down to punish everyone.
