    >The move marks a striking departure from government procedure for funding the military, which traditionally relies on public funds appropriated by Congress.

Getting pretty close to a privatized military

  2. What is the total “donations” that trump is getting these days and what are the “donors” getting in return.

Between the new air force one , ball room, inauguration funds, and now the pentagon . People must be getting one hell of a return that they can donate hundreds of millions .

  3. A quick google shows there are 1.3 million active duty members of the military, across all branches, currently. We’ll pretend that all $130MM of that will go to military pay and none to any overhead/bloat/grift. That’s $100 per active member.

So just like everything that the Trump administration says and does, this is all show and no substance.

  4. Impeach them all, this is so far beyond the pale, but a normal Friday for this administration.

  5. Ok, we’ve just crossed the line from a public military to a private one.

Nice. So I can expect Musk to start his own legal military here in the US as well. Maybe the Amazon and Microsoft militaries too. Nice. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

  6. Oh yeah, we’re not allowed to know what’s happening at the Pentagon unless it’s approved by Hegseth. Was this story approved by the censors?

Can we just audit from day one? DOGE and trace every dollar please. FFS I am over it.

  8. Every dictator needs the military behind them. I doubt the average soldier can be bought this cheaply.

The military taking “donations”. What could possibly go wrong?

    Absolutely idiocracy.

  10. One doesn’t approach such extraordinary measures if they plan to negotiate. He’s going to keep the shutdown going until he gets emergency authority.

If you recall, he/they were floating this scenario back in December ’24 before the handoff.

  11. Which means they can keep the government closed as long as the billionaires are willing to pay the gestapo and the wehrmacht.

I cannot keep up with all of the corruption today. It’s flooding the news cycle.

  13. Jesus Christ, this is a terrible precedent.  Private money CANNOT BE USED TO PAY FEDERAL TROOPS.  This is unbelievably dangerous, and entirely against what a free republic stands for.

  14. There are about 1.3 million active duty military personnel. $100 each will definitely help them out.
