Trump is diverting congressionally appropriated funds for a lot of his own non appropriated special projects so there’s no way he can legitimately blame the Dems for his own unconstitutional law breaking.

The GOP is going to try and use a lack of SNAP benefits to blame the Dems even more than they already have. “The Democrats are starving our poorest citizens…” *But* polling has shown that the majority of folks are rightfully assigning blame to the Republicans on this shutdown and the mess surrounding it.
GOP politicians (especially Trump) exist in their own information vacuum like their voters do. I think they believe they can just shove in as many lies as possible as quickly as possible and it’ll eventually make people believe them. That can’t work in 2025 the same way it did in, idk, 1937 Germany. Our access to information is unprecedented. There is no easily controlled source of government-run media that the entire country must consume.
So, and I could be wrong of course, I predict that this does nothing but further alienate the average American from GOP politicians and their policies. Of course, we’ve got that baseline level of MAGA support but never forget that for as loud as they are — they are not any sort of majority. And their politicians know that. It’s why they’re lying, hiding, and doing everything in their power to take away the voices and freedoms of the rest of us.

The “Thousand Year Reich” lasted for twelve years, and even they drip-fed their fascist ideology into society as a way to ingratiate their people to their beliefs. This administration is speedrunning fascism, giving tens — if not hundreds — of millions of Americans whiplash and boldly drawing attention to *everything* they’re doing.
And no one is asking why one of the richest countries in the world has 12% of its population unable to afford food.
The real tragedy is that we have a historically high 96% employment rate yet 12% of the country needs assistance to afford food.
