All these people buying access to the White House. Turmp will give them all access codes to the bunker.

These companies can donate 300M for Trump’s personal golden cow but none of them are saying a word or willing to put a dollar down to help the millions of Americans that will go without food in November. Disgusting.

  4. Trump is deeply unpopular but they see an opportunity to increase their power and wealth even if it comes at expense of democracy. If we ever have elections again I hope they will be made to regret their decision to support a tyrant.

  5. they should be forced to fix all the problems after Trump is gone. this thing is going to be mcmansion level construction and will be a leaky moldy mess in no time.

  6. I’ve been a T-Mobile customer since they were Voicestream. I’ll be canceling my service next month because of this.

The favor they’ll get in return is that Trump won’t force them to give the US government a percentage of their companies, for now. It may seem like bribery, but it’s really a shakedown. Remember, Trump isn’t the sort to actually return favors, he just demands them… again and again.

  8. The tech giants are really difficult to completely boycott as a group because you inevitably will need the services of at least one of them, but I’m baffled at companies like T-Mobile and Hard Rock willing to trash their reputations when their competitors have not (at least publicly) donated to this shitty ballroom.

I wrote to Hard Rock International to let them know I don’t intend to set foot in one of their restaurants or hotels ever gain, and I say this as somebody that has shirts from several Hard Rock restaurants. Was a real shame to see their name on this list.

It’s baffling watching Trump supporters bend over backwards to defend his constant lies and abuses of power. They go to great lengths to make excuses for him as he continues to flout the law and bypass checks and balances, as he violates every conceivable democratic norm and monetizes the presidency to the tune of billions, and all while his administration makes every effort to cover up his corruption.

Trump is prioritizing his own self interests, and the interests of his rich benefactors and political associates over the welfare of the American people.

In his eager pursuit to build such an unsightly monument styled after the gilded residences of some Monarchs, Trump is also doing away with all pretense and is shortcutting his way around standard and legal procedures that presidents would otherwise be expected to honor and follow.

Trump claimed he wouldn’t touch the East Wing—that was a lie.

He lied about the cost of the whole operation.

And during the process of tearing down the East Wing, Trump’s supporters continued moving the goal posts as they watched piece by piece crumble until the entire structure was razed to the ground along with anything standing in its vicinity.

Trump and his supporters claim that this won’t cost taxpayers a thing—this is a lie too.

First, as the price of Trump’s hideously decorated ballroom and narcissistic pet project continues to rise, he will be forced to find new ways of raising the funds needed to accomplish his end goal of turning half the White House into a replica of Mar-a-Lago.

Trump has already devised one plan to help him pay for these costs by demanding over $200 million from his own DOJ as compensation for damages to his fragile ego.

Trump insisting that the government pay its own leader hundreds of millions of dollars for the sake of salvaging his pride is alarmingly unprecedented and corrupt. A move that creates a one of a kind conflict of interest and raises massive ethical and legal red flags.

This payout won’t be coming from private investors, no, but from public funds; out of the pockets of American taxpayers who will be compensating him for previous investigations that exposed his corruption and misconduct. You can’t make this shit up.

Also, this invasive, ill-timed and needlessly extravagant Trump vanity project is just another avenue for private donors to curry favor with Trump and fund his egomaniacal ambitions in exchange for political favors and/or regulatory laxity.

What’s more, aside from the fact that this amounts to a flagrant act of corruption and a dumbfounding conflict of interest, the optics alone are horrific.

While millions of Americans suffer from economic hardship brought on by some of Trump’s own policies, and as the government remains shutdown, Trump is showing us where his priorities lie.

Trump has poured more of his time, energy and resources into this vain and offensive project than he has even remotely dedicated to addressing the economic issues he campaigned on.

This whole undertaking runs antithetical to the faux-populist messaging and persona that Trump has tried to communicate and cultivate over the years. This isn’t populism, it’s kleptocratic authoritarianism.

Moreover, as costs continue to increase, so will the number of pleas or demands that Trump makes to his wealthy patrons who see this as another opportunity to literally purchase influence with Trump.

Contrary to what Trump and his supporters claim, ongoing costs for things like maintenance and secondary expenses will undoubtedly be paid by the taxpayers.

Then there’s the tax write offs that Trump’s donors will benefit from. And who do you think ends up paying for this loss in tax revenue?

Trump isn’t investing all this money and these resources in the American people. This isn’t about the diplomatic value of a garishly decorated, oversized ballroom. Trump has already stated that he’s going to name the building after himseld ffs.

This is about Trump’s ego, plain and simple. It’s about power and esteem. It’s about transforming the White House into a monument to Trump; a satellite Mar-a-Lago estate; a permanent home for the king.

It’s about securing financial and political contributions from billionaires wanting lax regulations and political protection in exchange for their “generosity.”

It’s about Trump, it’s always about Trump.

Trump’s vanity project will also end up being so large that it dwarfs the White House itself. The symbolism is apparent.

There’s also just the sheer audacity of it. Trump’s recent actions are symbolic of his presidency in many ways, but one hallmark of Trump’s leadership on display here is his brazen, irresponsible and unchecked use of his powers. This whole fiasco illustrates to the American people the offensive, self-important, and oppressive nature of his presidency.

You would have to be a bumbling idiot to not question why 37 billionaire donors are funding this 300 million dollar build for the White House.

  11. space_cumshooter on

Just pick one of these companies and boycott it one at a time.. that’ll show them “we the people built this country not the other way around”

  12. Plus all the tax payers money he is getting from his DOJ lawsuit. Scam artist….. He was just on TV bragging about using the lawsuit money to help pay for his stupid ballroom.

Zuckerberg AND the Winklevosses?!? President Trump really bringing people together.

  14. Are they gonna be upset when the new guy tears that shit down? Because we are. We are going to demand it.

Boycott Apple. They donated for this, the inauguration, removed Iceblock and brought the King a gold trinket. Switch to GrapheneOS!
