  1. The fact that he was charged and arrested at all is ridiculous.

It was a fascist intimidation meant to scare anyone opposed to the MAGA agenda.

He spent weeks incarcerated for a meme

    Accused of online school threats

Im thinking the civil suit should start at a million per day

  3. Hopefully this man sues and wins big. Wrongful imprisonment for a month and lost his job be sued he was in jail over something that wasn’t even a crime.

    >Nolle prosequi is a Latin term for charges being dismissed.

No – that sounds like the court are dismissing the charge, whereas a nolle prosequi is made by the prosecutors and means “unwilling to proceed” – i.e. they don’t want to carry on with the charges. Double jeopardy does not apply and the charge can be reopened.

In this case I think that they realised that highlighting the moral vacuum in the White House is not an offence.

I hope he sues and gets PAID, but also that he realizes the larger importance of bringing the suit in the first place. He’s on the front lines for the 1st amendment.

Well, guess that means it’s time to press charges against Trump and jail him for a month for making “threats of mass violence” since it was his direct quote that was deemed as such *by MAGA themselves*.

A nationally covered local news story and this is the sheriff’s response a month later, with the “suspect” sitting in jail the entire time:

    > “I’ve not seen the Lexington bodycam footage,” Weems said. “My investigator has requested it and their report.”

I hope the guy who spent a month in jail bankrupts the county.

It should be noted that the reason he was let go was because the body cam video doesn’t match what the police said happened.

  9. So insane that he was even arrested and locked up for so long. It’s unreal what conservatives are doing to this country. They really can’t stand free speech.

  10. The Sheriff has been getting a ton of well deserved hate, but there has been hardly anything said about the judge who signed off on the arrest warrant and set a $2 million bail. I want to know who that POS is.

  11. Well Sheriff Nick Weems will 100% lose his qualified immunity on this one. Bend over, several lawsuits incoming.

Another fine example of tyrant MAGAt cops thinking they rule the day.

This shows the power of *good* journalism in this era. This happened after the local TV station interviewed the sheriff and got him on tape admitting that the charges were flimsy at best.

  13. destroyed his life over his free speech… welcome to Trumpistan… you don’t matter peasants.

  14. > The sheriff said his agency would not have charged Bushart if he had simply agreed to take the post down.

Easiest 1st amendment suit of the decade. Incredible that they just gave that information up so willingly.

  15. >”And he admitted to making the post and advised that he was not taking it down,” Weems continued. “So, therefore, he was showing the intent.”

    >The sheriff continued, “At that point, the investigator conversed with the district attorney and myself, and charges were brought on Mr. Bushart for the threat of mass violence because of the fear that he had created in our community.”

    >In fact, the video shows the Lexington officer never mentioned anything about the post possibly being interpreted as a threat to shoot up Perry County High School.

    >Reached Wednesday by text, Sheriff Weems said he was simply reflecting what his investigator wrote in his report.

    >”I’ve not seen the Lexington bodycam footage,” Weems said. “My investigator has requested it and their report.”

What an absolute piece of shit that sheriff is.

Everyone involved knew there was zero threat there. When challenged on this, first the sheriff lied about how the original interaction went and then when pressed on it he admitted he hadn’t actually done any research on it.

Does that mean when someone makes in his eyes a credible threat against schools it isn’t worth following up on? He had an entire month to watch was I am sure was less than a five minute conversation. If it was really that much of a threat and worth having the guy sit in jail for a month you’d think he’d watch that.

The sad part is that sheriff will keep his job and see zero consequences.

For my own safety. That is not a threat. This is not facebook. This is me just bullshitting on reddit. 🤣🤡
