Big blow to Donny’s plans to starve children and the elderly to death during the holiday season.

  2. If we didn’t have these federal judges these benefits would go away for as long as Trump is in power. Getting rid of government assistance programs is part of Project 2025. Donald Trump wants the poor to die, because to him they’re an eye sore. Donald Trump has already illegally used Martial Law to have the National Guard remove homeless people from the streets and put them into prisons. Some of these people are disabled, handicapped, pregnant women, and even veterans.

  3. Courts stepping in makes sense considering SNAP serves millions of people and interrupting that aid will have serious consequences

Good thing Trump’s never ignored legal requirements before. I’m sure this will go just fine.

This probably works out better for republicans than had the funding run out on Monday as they now no longer risk as much immediate pushback in the elections next week from uninformed voters who would have had their funds cut off the day before the election. Now, they still get to refuse to fund SNAP once the emergency funds run out

  6. Good. Don’t let Donny fool us though, he created this problem, he is more than likely gonna release the money, and claim a victory..

  7. Trump: This is the Dems fault.
Also Trump: We can’t use the $6 billion in contingency funds for SNAP.

  8. Sounds like the emergency funds can cover a little more than half of Nov, and there are other pots of money they can dip into to cover the rest of the month. But that’s everything.

No money for anything past that or, you know, sudden unexpected emergencies.

  9. I will not be surprised to learn the contingency funds are gone because they Doge’d it and never told anyone.

Not a fan of the piecemeal reopening of government. Shutdowns should be painful. All this will do is prolong the shutdown and our civil servants not getting paid.

  11. The title on this post doesn’t match the title of the article: “Two federal judges require Trump administration tap into emergency funds to partially cover food stamp benefits”

80ish% of snap recipients are working, but are paid so little, their wages still qualify them for snap.

Meanwhile, companies are paid $9000 per snap recipient hired.

So, if snap is help up at the federal level, Walmart et all need to step up and increase wages. They received $9000 per employee on snap!

  13. Funds are appropriated in the event of an emergency, it ensures SNAP is paid out.

If funds aren’t going to be paid out, that in and of itself is an emergency.

How can you argue that a Gov’t Shutdown isn’t an emergency when the whole point is to ensure SNAP continues to be paid? It’s dumb logic.

It’d be like having emergency funds for your house in case of a natural disaster but then choosing to foreclose on your house because losing your job isn’t a natural disaster (what good are the emergency funds then?)

  14. won’t donald and administration just do what they always do? ignore it and get away with it?

  15. Woah, are they trying to say the government exists to help people and not just make the rich richer? I’m so confused. /s

    I’m calling it now.

He’s gonna let people go hungry for a few days, and then release the USDA funds and act like a fucking hero.

    Mark my words.
